Our practice is sophisticated, and our client base is global, but there’s a feeling of family here. People are friendly, and attorneys at all levels express a genuine interest in your development and well-being. In these challenging times, we continue to focus on our people, and we offer the resources, flexibility and community that will help you maximize your talents. From the moment you join us, you will be a valued member of the firm and will have the opportunity to make an immediate difference. – BOBBY GERBER | MANAGING PARTNER

NGE AT A GLANCE With 130 lawyers, Neal Gerber Eisenberg is one of the largest single-office law firms in the nation. The scope of our practice is both international and domestic and includes transactions of all kinds, litigation, and intellectual property. Our clients include entrepreneurs, small and midsize businesses, eight of the Fortune 20 companies, ten of the Crain’s Chicago Business Top 25 publicly held companies, and six of the Crain’s Chicago Business Top 20 privately held companies. At a time when many law firms see themselves as institutions, NGE continues to render legal services as a person-to-person endeavor.

OUR 10-WEEK SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM It is our goal that by summer’s end you will have learned exactly what it means to be an associate here, not just by watching, but by doing. Our program offers: Formal associate and partner mentors who serve as go-to guides at the firm and help provide ongoing feedback about projects Access to continuing education programs, practicespecific training and innovative associate “pods” that offer peer learning experiences Opportunities to work on pro bono matters and engage with the local community

We want our attorneys at all levels to find meaning in their work and to be engaged in the business, and we treat our summer associates like new associates. You will receive real, meaningful work, you will engage with firm leaders, and you will start building relationships with your future colleagues and clients. During your fast-paced 10-week summer, you will become an integral member of various project teams, working side-byside with associates and partners. – TANVI B. PATEL

Meaningful assignments that allow you to sample the broad range of the firm’s practice areas. For example, our summer associates have: • Drafted pleadings for a multimedia client in a case in federal court, and argued a motion for default judgment and permanent injunction against a patent infringer based in China; • Prepared an opening statement to be delivered by NGE attorneys at a jury trial in a sex discrimination and harassment case; and • Assisted in a $139 million real estate transaction involving due diligence, the drafting of closing documents, and coordination with the title company.

OUR VALUES Our values as corporate citizens are guided by our responsibility to our people, our clients, our community, and our environment. Here is a snapshot of our recent initiatives:

PRO BONO AND COMMUNITY We are deeply committed to using our legal skills to make life better for others, and we give back to communities in which we live and work. • In 2020, 100% of our associates participated in pro bono matters, and our attorneys worked 6,739 pro bono hours collectively. • We represent persecuted individuals and asylum seekers through the National Immigrant Justice Center. • We support the All Stars Project by providing development opportunities to underprivileged and underserved youth in the Chicago area.

SUSTAINABILITY We are committed to promoting environmentally sustainable programs to conserve natural resources now, and for generations to come. • We moved to 100% electronic billing, saving an additional 40 trees, the equivalent of 2.75 tons of waste, from being landfilled. • We eliminated single-serve coffee pods, saving 1 ton of waste from being landfilled. • 80% of our paper products are made from post-consumer recycled paper.

WELLNESS We support and promote the holistic well-being of all attorneys and staff. • We are a signatory to the ABA Well-Being Pledge. Our NGE Being Well initiative focuses on the physical, mental, social, and financial well-being of all employees. • We hosted several virtual wellness programs recently, such as “Coping with the Loss of Normalcy During COVID” (a program led by a clinical psychologist), “Reframe for Joy” Guided Meditation and Discussion, and “Depression and Mental Health in the Legal Profession.” • We offer a free annual membership to the mindfulness app Headspace to provide guided meditation, sleep, and focus resources for all employees.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION We recognize that the true benefit of a diverse workplace can be felt only when there is a genuine sense of organizational inclusion. • We hosted trial attorney, speaker and writer Ellie Krug, who discussed what it means to be transgender, shared her experiences living on “the other side of the gender fence,” and provided a toolset for inclusion. • The firm hosted ten roundtable discussions on systemic racism and current events. Attorneys and staff shared painful stories reflecting the lack of societal progress and discussed personal accountability for change. • We achieved Mansfield 3.0 certification, confirmation of the firm’s focus on inclusion, and its hard work to attract and advance exceptional talent. NGE has achieved certification every year it has been involved in the Mansfield Rule program.

OUR CULTURE Neal Gerber Eisenberg is a great place to start and build a rewarding legal career. We work hard at nurturing legal talent and providing associates with a platform to grow professionally, early on and throughout their careers. While you will work hard, you will have a fulfilling career and a full life in a way that works for you. The training and mentorship we received as summer associates was outstanding. We met regularly with a writing coach throughout the summer, as well as our associate and partner mentors. We also participated in all kinds of interactive programming, from a negotiation workshop to practice-specific programs, to programs on well-being. – LEE BARRINGTON STARK | ASSOCIATE | SUMMER ASSOCIATE ’19

During NGE’s summer program, I was able to work on a wide variety of assignments for partners and associates. I also worked on pro bono matters, interviewed a judge and took on research assignments in different practice areas. With the help of my mentors and the summer program coordinators, I was able to speak with associates and partners from a variety of backgrounds. Everyone was enthusiastic about their work and about helping me with my assignments and my career in any way that they could. – SUDEEP DHANOA | NORTHWESTERN PRITZKER SCHOOL OF LAW CLASS OF ’22 |

SUMMER ASSOCIATE ’20 & ‘21

From day one, the firm helped me feel welcome and supported. It has provided the tools, guidance, and opportunities I have needed to move from summer associate to partner and to pursue a satisfying career. – ERIC CHOI | PARTNER | SUMMER ASSOCIATE ’06
