A Life With Freedom As the time of spring fades, and summer begins, being in the USA often draws one to reflect on the topic of freedom, independence and the history of these virtues that we Americans hold near and dear. One of the most celebrated days in the USA is July 4th, Independence day. Yet there is an event that pre-dates the Independence day of the USA on July 4th, and that event set in motion the actions of many men and women in pursuit of the freedom not simply in political or religious terms, yet the freedom from bondage of sin (lawlessness) and the ability to know God as truly is set forth in the Bible. In the letter to the Galatians, the apostle Paul, wrote of how the churches in Galatia had been bewitched to believing that to be a “free people from consequences of God’s law (which everyone breaks and falls short in keeping),[...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…Romans 3:23] and judgment, [And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes the judgment…Hebrews 9:27]. Was to continue to observe the Law as a basis for presenting one’s self as righteous or at God’s standard. Paul writes that this is not the truth [Galatians chapters 1-3], yet states clearly that the event that would permit one to receive divine pardon from judgment of one’s sins and failing to meet God’s perfect standard is found alone in the work and Person of God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul writes, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, stand firm (a military term to be at attention, always ready to engage in a battle) and do not be subject (a command) again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1) What slavery is Paul speaking about? That slavery is to sin and death. Which, none of us can overcome unless we receive the pardon, the freedom found in the death, the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day. As you consider your freedoms as an American, are you certain of your freedom as a human being, created in the image of God from sin and death? If no, then turn to the letter of Galatians read it, and then turn to the Gospel of Mark so that you would be able to meet the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus Christ who stated, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45). Have a happy 4th of July and God bless you! Written by Brian Scott

Employee Profile Brian Scott joined Church Partner in May 2022. Originally from California, this is the second time Brian has lived in Colorado. After attending the University of Denver, Brian confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord and repented of his sins in 1996 while living in Washington DC. Since that day, Brian has been active in gospel proclamation and work around the world. Relocating to Colorado to be near aging parents, Brian is constantly active in outdoor recreation such as golf, mountain biking, hiking and snow skiing. Unknown fact, Brian has ghost written and researched for authors who write theological works. Brian, one day, he would like to publish his own book. Brian’s most treasured Bible verses are 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”

The Salvation Army Central Territory Trade Show 2022 – Milwaukee, WI After a couple of years of no in person trade shows we had the pleasure of being invited to The Salvation Army Trade Shows in the Central and Eastern territories. I attended the Central Territory Trade Show that was located in downtown Milwaukee, WI. We were so glad to participate at this first in person event since Covid 19 began. With over 1,000 People in attendance, I was blessed with the opportunity to meet Corp leadership, retired Majors and up and coming Cadets waiting to be commissioned and assigned to their first Corp. Khristine Werner and her husband David were tremendous hosts. We participated in the grand prize drawing, giving away a beautiful solid oak tabletop lectern. Putt putt golf was a big hit along with the other cool giveaway items we had in our booth. There is nothing more powerful in developing relationships than being able to meet face to face. I look forward to growing the partnership between ChurchPartner and The Salvation Army. Remember we can provide anything that can be found inside of a worship center, and we will always strive to serve you in the best way possible.

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory Trade Show 2022 – Hershey, PA It has been many years since we have attended a Salvation Army trade show, but that drought came to an end on June 10-11 when I attended the Eastern Territory trade show in Hershey, PA. The opportunity to mingle with Salvation Army personnel was a blessing as they all exhibited a genuine concern for others and an unflinching love for our God. The Eastern leadership team of Aaron VanderWeele, Mark Baker, and Randy Butts were fantastic in arranging all the details of this wonderful event. We are so blessed to be able to be a resource for the Salvation Army for many of their furniture and worship supply needs. It was so reaffirming to have one-on-one discussions with the various Corp leadership in helping them with their needs. For those of you who do not work with your local Salvation Army, we strongly encourage you to reach out to them so that we can all work together to achieve our mutual mission – saving all of God’s children in the name of Christ.
