A name of several labiate plants, especially of the genus Ocimum. . Ocimum- New Latin. (derived from Latin 'Ocimum', an aromatic plant, basil.) A genus of labiate herbs and shrubs type of the tribe Ocimoideae. Also spelled, 'Ocymum'.
