Metalworking/welding

Nederman systems and solutions:

Welding generates extremely small metal particulates which are very dangerous to inhale. Therefore, many countries have stipulated a maximum permissible exposure to welding fumes. The best way to control the exposure is to capture the fumes right at the source. This protects both the welder and the other workers. Nederman systems cover both high and low vaccum techniques and are used for extraction of welding fumes and for cleaning operations of premises and machines.

Milling, drilling and grinding generate metal chips which may affect the operations. Chips on the floor are safety risks. Oil mist in the air cause health problems. Slippery floors increases the costs for cleaning. Nederman systems keep machines and premises free from scraps and our NOM Oil mist filters purify the air from dangerous oil drops. Diesel engine exhaust fumes have a potential to cause a range of health problems. Nederman’s exhaust extraction systems, designed specifically for emergency vehicles, remove the exhaust fumes right at the tail pipe which is the only effective way to do it. The range includes the unique MagnaSystem using an electromagnet to attach the hose to the vehicle permitting quick getaways and superior capacity for exhaust removal. The PTS system, which has a pneumatically attached nozzle, is perfect for stations where vehicles vary from time to time.

Single/Twin Exhaust Extractor Single Exhaust Extractor is a reliable and functional solution for all types of stationary vehicles. Available with balancer or a cord for manual hose suspension. The balancer automatically raises the hose and nozzle after disconnection, and keeps them lifted at all times. Models for high temperature application are available. Twin Exhaust Extractor removes exhaust fumes from two vehicles at the same time, or from vehicles with twin exhaust pipes.

For all types of vehicle workshops, etc. where the hose can hang at a reachable height. The patented spring drive makes the reel very easy to handle. A patented integrated automatic damper saves energy and reduces the noise level. Optional retraction control is available for increased safety and efficiency. Mounting of fan on reel is possible. The spring recoiled hose reel can be upgraded to motor drive.

Electric motor driven

The best solution in workshops with a high ceiling, where overhead cranes etc. have to be considered, or where high vehicles must pass. Operated via a hand unit either an IR control or pendant control. A receiving eye on the reel shows the status of operation. Electronic limit switches reduce the risk of malfunction and unnecessary wearing of the hose. Fan start/stop is automatically controlled. Mounting of fan on reel is possible.

Exhaust Rail System 920 Easy to handle systems for all types of workshops. Consists of a basic rail system which is completed with an exhaust extraction kit. Very high extraction efficiency. One extraction unit can serve several workbays. Extraction units are easy to move, thanks to light-weight material and ball bearing wheels. Two 400 units serve cars with twin exhaust pipes. Balancer

The balancer supports the exhaust hose and keeps the hose and nozzle lifted at all times. The reversed spring power makes handling the hose very easy and safe, offering an even pulling force and lifting power. An integrated centrifugal brake prevents the hose from being lifted too quickly, which minimizes the risk of personal injury and damage to vehicles. Hoist length: 8m (26 ft.).

Trackarm System Wall mounted Trackarm System is designed for heavy stationary vehicles. It is a solution for premises where crane bridges, height of ceiling, etc. make ceiling mounting of other systems difficult. The horizontal hose is compressible, and fixed to a 180° pivoting arm. Extraction Arms and Filter Systems The Nederman range of low vacuum extraction arms covers a wide variety of applications. All arms are highly flexible, and simple to position, extend and retract. Different attachments are available for wall, ceiling or extension bracket mounting as well as a number of accessories, including hoods and dampers to improve efficiency. Extraction Arm Standard Nederman Extraction Arm Standard is specially designed for working environments with fumes, vapours or non explosive dust, where the demands for higher airflows and temperatures are moderate. Typical workplaces can be welding schools, different types of applications in light production. The applications can be welding, grinding, or other industrial processes where an easily positioned arm is required. The arm is available in two lengths, 2 and 3 m (7 and 10 ft.) and equipped with a high efficiency extraction hood.

Extraction Arm Telescopic The Nederman Telescopic arm is specially designed for working environments with fumes, vapours or non explosive dust, where the space is limited. Typical workplaces can be welding schools or for production in small welding booths. The applications can be welding, grinding, or other industrial processes where a small, easily positioned arm is required. The reach of the arm is between 0.9 and 1.6 m (3 and 5 ft.).

Welding and Grinding table Industrial welding and grinding table for extraction of fumes, dust and particles at welding and grinding operations. It can also be used in explosive environments, if grounded accordingly. The table is not suitable for cutting. The table facilitates suspension of the welding torch when not in use. Underneath the working area a dust drawer takes care of the heavy dust. The drawer can easily be emptied from the front of the table. The duct connection for the external fan is located on top of the table and it is recommendable to use a filter device between the table and the fan. Suitable filters can be FilterBox, FilterMax C25 or the modular FilterMax models.

Extension Arm The Nederman Extension Arm, 4.2 m or 6.0 m (14 ft. or 20 ft.), is designed to be used when extra reach is needed. Combine it with fume or dust extraction arms, or exhaust extraction equipment for cars or trucks. Made of robust steel profiles. Suspended by a pivoting wall bracket and equipped with a joint in the middle, which makes it flexible in all directions. It is possible to add other equipment to the Extension Arm, such as welding machines, and hose and cable reels.

Windscreen Extraction Arm The Nederman Windscreen extraction arm is based on the Original arm and specially designed for extraction of adhesive vapours generated when working with windscreens, when removing, replacing or mounting. Enclosed support arm, separate hose and a stainless steel hood means the NEX arm requires little maintenance and is easy to clean. The arm is single earthed by the helix in the hose. The hose is made of PVC with FDA approved components. The Nederman NEX D is recommended for use in explosive environments, zone 22 D.

Extraction Arm NEX DX

Enclosed support arm, separate hose and a stainless steel hood means the DX arm requires little maintenance and is easy to clean. The arm is double earthed by the helix in the hose and through the arm system. The hose is made of polyurethane. The Nederman NEX DX is recommended for use in explosive environments, zone 21 D.

Fans

The N series fans presented in this catalogue are important components in Nederman’s products for fume extraction and filtering, as well as for vehicle exhaust extraction. The N fans cover from 0.55 kW to 2.2 kW (0,5 Hp to 3,0 Hp), and have an airflow capacity of 400 - 4000 m³/h (250 - 2400 cfm).

NCF, Nederman Central Fans with capacities for industrial process ventilation systems

Beside the N series fans Nederman offers centrifugal fans for larger industrial applications. The NCF series fans are from 2.2 kW to 18.5 kW (0,5 Hp to 3,0 Hp) and have an airflow capacity of up to 18 000 m3/h (10 500 cfm). They are powerful fans with a robust construction of welded steel manufactured to withstand industrial operation.

NCF DX fans for explosive applications

NCF DX is a series of explosion proof central fans designed to suit Nederman’s FilterMax DX programme or similar systems. The NCF DX fans are approved for conductive dust in zone 22 in accordance with ATEX directive 94/9 group 2, category 3.

Fan Controls Less heated air is extracted to outside, and less electricity consumed if the fan operates only while the work is in progress. Switch on/off the fan manually at the hood, or automatically with a sensor clamp. Single phase power supply of the Operation Box. The automatic Fan Control has a sensor clamp to be attached on the ground cable of the welding set for automatic start of the fan. It is able to detect currents from 8A. The Operation Box consists of a transformer 30VA for the light kit in the extraction arm, a timer for delay of fan stop variable 0-5 minutes, and two separate connections for sensor clamps.

Motor Damper The Motor Damper consists of a Fan Contactor and an Operation Box that can be controlled by any closing contact . The Operation Box consists of a transformer 30VA for the light kit in the extraction arm, a timer for delay of fan stop variable 0-5 minutes, and two separate connections for sensor clamps. Single phase power supply, 110/120-220 /240V, 50/60Hz. The Motor Damper is available in two models: manual, using a hood mounted switch set, or automatic, using a sensor clamp on the welding set, for automatic start of the fan and automatic control of the damper.

Filter Max is a modular filter system designed to deal with all types of fume and dust from mechanical working or handling of a wide range of materials. New modular sections can easily be added when the airflow requirements increase. Filter Max C25 – for low volume applications Compact single unit with built-in fan and control equipment. For low volume applications where space is limited. Airflow capacity 1.500 – 3.000 m3/h (900 – 1800 cfm). FilterMax DF – for basic use Basic version with one, two or three modules. Airflow capacity 2.200 – 13.000 m3/h (1300 – 7600 cfm). FilterMax F – with integrated pre-separator Filters with integrated pre-separator for coarse particles, sparks, etc. cartridges. Airflow capacity 1.500 – 10.000 m3/h (900 – 6000 cfm). FilterMax SFC – safety and circulation filter Used in combination with FilterMax DF or F models to increase safety against release of dangerous dust into the atmosphere. Can also function as a back-up filter in case of collapse of the primary filter unit. Airflow capacity up to 2.000 – 4.000 m3/h (1200 – 2400 cfm). It can also be configured as a spark trap to reduce the risk of fire in a main filter. General description Low vacuum systems

Low vacuum products and systems are generally speaking used for extraction of air contaminated with small, light and low velocity particles. A system briefly consists of a fan and filter unit.

Typical low vacuum applications are: • engineering processes with welding • grinding and oil mist recycling • food and pharmaceutical processes involving the handling of powders or chemicals. In these applications there is often a latent explosion risk. Specially adapted products designed according to the ATEX standards are obligatory.

Low vacuum system characteristics: • uses high volumes of air, 600 – 2000 m³/h (350 – 600 cfm) in each extraction point • extraction via large diameter ducting at relatively low speeds, around 10 – 25 m/s (2000 – 5000 ft/min.) • the pressure drops that have to be overcome are low, normally in the region of 1 – 3 kPa

NOM filter for larger airflow capacities and central systems

The Nederman oil mist filters NOM are designed for use in conjunction with machining work where emulsions are used as the coolant/lubricant. They can also be used in the metalworking press industry. The NOM 4 presented in this catalogue is designed for recovery of oil mist from single CNC machines with enclosed cabinet.

Beside NOM 4 Nederman offers a range of NOM filters designed to cover applications with need for larger airflow capacities (up to 11,200 m3/h) (6,600 cfm). NOM 11, NOM 18, NOM 28 and NOM 112 are installed in central systems connected to many machines.

Fume Eliminator 840/841 Fume Eliminator 840/841 is a small, lightweight, portable extraction unit designed to be carried to the working area. Connected to a welding torch or to an extraction nozzle, the FE 840/841 unit extracts the fume directly at source. FE 840 has a manual start/stop function. FE841 has an automatic start/stop function which starts the unit as soon as the welding begins. It also includes an indicator for filter exchange.

MFS – Modular Filter System MFS offers maximum flexibility through its unique modular concept of standard mounting and filter elements. Virtually any combination can be achieved, from a single filter assembly, to larger multi-stage filter systems combining particle, HEPA and Gas. The hose coupler system is available in a wide range to suit most hose diameters commonly used. The couples are made from electrically conductive plastic material and are available in two diameters of the tapered coupler section 40 and 50 mm (1.6 and 2 inch). Using the couplers makes it very easy to connect/disconnect the vacuum hose simply by turning–pushing or turning– pulling. The male 50 series fits directly to the KV .ap valve and the automatic TAV valve. To connect the 40 series to either the 50 series or to the above mentioned valves an adapter is used.

Mobile High Vacuum Cleaning Units Electric powered units

Electric vacuum units are ideal for demanding cleaning tasks in most types of industries, such as food processing, pharmaceutical, powder coating and foundries. Air powered units

Air powered ejector units are used for collecting and transporting dry or wet materials and liquids in industries that work in very tough environments.

Nederman Hose and Cable Reels Nederman offers a complete range of hose and cable reels, all of which are simple to operate and safe to use. All our reels are fitted with ball bearings in the drum and/or the swivel shaft, which makes it very easy to pull out the hose or cable. High quality seals minimize any risk of leakage. All our reels have an optimized spring force, ensuring that the hose or cable retracts smoothly and evenly onto the drum. The high quality spring is pre-tensioned at the factory to suit a wide range of applications, and is well protected inside the drum cavity. Our reels are very easy to mount, either on walls, ceilings or floors. To improve ergonomics the hose and cable reels can be combined with a balancer, see chapter Ergonomy and Protection.

Curtains Standard sized curtains (see below) provided with 50 mm welded seam all around and with snap-fasteners on both sides for joining to obtain total desired width. Supplied with reinforced holes in the upper edge and steel suspension rings. All standard curtains are made of pliable self extinguishing PVCmaterial with flash point 320-390ºC (600–730°F). Width: 1400 mm (55 in.), Thickness: 0.40-0.50 mm (0.016–0.020 in.). The Nederman yellow and clear transparent curtains are used for glare, splatter, grinding, dust etc. but are not aimed for welding, unlike our EN1598 compliant curtains that are ideal for welding applications.

Curtain Screen The protection curtain screens are easily movable for welding, grinding, turning, milling etc, and are ideal for the screening of temporary or permanent work places. The frame is manufactured from galvanised tube and the curtain of self-extinguishing PVC material (as the standard curtains above) and complying with EN1598 for welding. Delivered complete with frame and curtain with total dimension WxH=1700x2000 mm (67x79 in.) (just curtain H=1700 mm (67 in.)). Weight 7.5 kg (16 lbs).
