egg packaging Egg is one product where careful handling is of the utmost importance. The shell of the egg is very delicate. On the slightest application of pressure on the egg shell, horizontally, the egg would crack. But on the other hand the egg would not crack even if a great amount of pressure is applied on the vertical points of the egg. Keeping all this in mind different styles of packaging was done to protect the egg from external forces. The Limitations of the Project was that theegg packaging had to be made using only one A3 size cartridge sheet and fevicol.

packaging for paper There is no proper packaging available in the market for covering or carrying big sheets of paper (A2, A1 size). The shop keepers generally roll up the sheets and either just put a rubber band around it or cover the central portion of the rolled up sheets in newspaper before putting rubber band. This is not a problem if the sheets are to be carried for only a short distance. But when the sheets are required to be carried over a long distance (especially by public transport), then the edges of the sheets would start fraying.

paper wrap Different types of paper interlocking techniques were tried to see which would be best for holding paper. Finally a strip of paper with key hole pattern at one end and one concave cut out, each on both sides of the other end was decided to be the ideal interlocking method. The word “Sepal” was selected as the brand name. Sepal is the green leaf like structure at the bottom of a flower. It protects the flower in the bud stage and provides support to the flower when it is in full bloom. It holds together the various petals of the flower and forms the base for it. The alphabets “e” of Sepsl was worked with to incorporate into the interlocking pattern of the Paper Wrap in an aesthetically appealing manner.

paper cap The top and bottom edges of the rolled sheets of paper tend to get frayed when not well covered. Various styles were developed to work out which pattern would be best for the need. Initially different patterns /cuts were made on a paper strip to help the strip to take the shape of the rolled paper. But the cuts just got in the way of wrapping. The paper strip was then just scored, instead of being cut, to make it to conform to the shape of the rolled paper. In the industry this can be done using machine dies that would crease the paper in the desired pattern.

Paper Cap

The “Paper Wrap” is made in three different sizes as different types of paper would be of different circumference when rolled. The circumference of the rolled up sheets of paper is not fixed it would be best if the paper cap would come in a roll form, of 5-10m in length. The “Paper Wrap” and “Paper Cap” are made from craft paper on which the graphics is screen printed.
