The five storey building, mainly consists of offices, workshops, exhibitions, green houses and residential units. The aim was to provide platform for young pioneers with bright ideas to engage in an inspirational network together with enterprenuers. As a result the startup programs are related to the bigger sorrounding instituitions such as Climate Campus and Rotterdam Science tower.

STARTUP CAMPUS| 01 The chosen location for this project is Merwe VierHaven, situated between Rotterdam and Schiedam, where one of the major transofrmations of the city will take place in the three decades. In the MerweVier Havens a shift from harbor and industrial activities to new urban activities is planed by Rotterdam municipality.

Morphology The trails of the neighbouring building layouts are extended over the plot from which the volume is splited in positive and negative spaces. This mass and void division is also through considerations of the proper typology for the selected programs. Afterwards the blocks are connected through bridges based on the routing system, and the whole volumes

The building facade is made out of electrochromic glass panels which through applying of a certain amount of electricity voltage the transparency and brightness can be adjusted to the desired level while no outside view is blocked. This dynamic feature can be highly useful for different periods of the day and the year. Besides, it brings an interesting dynamism for the building facade as it is an everchanging pattern on the glazing system.

Temporary Student Housing Since, the chosen site is near the campus of Hasselt University, the main argue behind choosing this program was to provide temporary living units for the studnts coming to Hasselt and having problems to find a place for living. The Living area mainly consisted of Units for 1 person and shared units integrated with communal and collective open and built spaces. Yet, for adding a pleasant quality to these living areas, another function as “Urban Farming� has been included in the building. Urban Farming The main areas of the Belgium under cultivation are in the northern region of Flanders, almost 60 percent of land is used for agriculture. Almost all of it is placed outside of the city, and is monocultural. My project aims to bring farming into the city, and even have people living in the same building as the plants. By bringing farming close to the consumers, they become more conscious of where their food comes from, and they know the food puts as small a tax on the environment as possible. Not only because the food has had zero travel miles. Furthermore, habitants can be also involved in the harvesting process as volunteers in a way that for instance, harvesting volunteers can pay less for their living contracts.

The desicion was to conserve the brick exterior envelope while the inside activities were altered based on the new occupied programs. Also the new intervention in the site is added from both sides of this existing block

Climatic Benefits The people and the plants also benefit from each other´s company within the building; fresh air for humans is blown into the living areas of the building, and after warming up to plant-friendly temperature and becoming rich in C02 it can be pushed into the lowpressure plant areas. The aim is to keep the required input to the building as low as possible.

This is a brief overview about the building which is located next to the square and the entrance to the campus. The main project program consists of different parts such as square, restaurants, business and study areas. In the square design, an attractive path by means of providing connection between neighboring buildings is designed with attractive qualities such as green areas and collective spaces where students can meet or spend their break times there. In the built sector other programs are distributed in different levels according to their level of publicness.Hence, the restaurant and the foyer are placed on the ground level which is surrounded by transparent envelope as of establishing the inside-out and the outside-in visual connections to attract people from outdoor environments.

One part of the program is the studying area is located on the first floor and integrates with a stepped path passing through the glass box that provides connection between the foyer and restaurants. On this path students can find places to work and discuss in groups and benefit from the view to the forest without any noise limitations. The path is visible from outside the building so the movement of people can be seen which represents the public identity of the project. On the second floor business areas are placed since the users are mostly staff. Hence, this floor requires more privacy and silence. Apart from the distribution of the programs, there are some additional boxes standing in the glass box which are connected to each level and mostly followed by functions of fraction room, rest areas and cafeteria.

Transparency for direct visual connection between indoor and outsdoor spaces. Semi public functions are housed inside the intermediate boxes between glass and concrete parts. This spaces benefit from the view to restaurant,foyer and outdoor green spaces.l

A tea-house is where people can not only drink tea, but also can get accustomed and enhance the cultural and community relationships in such a friendly environment.Yet, in this monumental place the aim is to bring more intensive qualities and experiences to the visitors through evoking different human senses in a concrete made space. This came to pass by playing with different properties and material expressions of concrete in a way that one can find different senses such as touching, sighting, hearing and eventually tasting, evoked in the space. All the emotions are drawn out by such an arid material as concrete.

The tea room is made of precast concrete panels that are perforated and they are carried by some structural frames made by steel beams and columns.

When people come into the building a venturi-shaped roof designed for wind-induced natural ventilation of building. So it affects the speed of wind that enters into the building and as a result people can feel the wind, further than that visitors see different play of light on the concrete wall surfaces. through the pool which is designed on the roof, thanks to the reflective property of concrete, the ripple effect on concrete walls is a result of the sun light penetrating through the water. Which evokes the sense of sight. Then the person encounter a kind of articulated concrete wall which slightly let the natural diffused light comes in to the building differently. At the same time visitors inside the tea room can hear the echo of other people's chatting and walking in the narrow corridor surrounded by high concrete walls through the perforated walls. Finally, based on th main space function, visitors can taste various types of tea in this reclusive and relaxant space.
