Amec Foster Wheeler Environmental & Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Ecologist / Modeler to join our team in our St. John’s, NL office. Key Responsibilities The role would require participation in the design and execution of scientific field surveys for animal movement, abundance and population data. It would also include detailed data analysis and modelling using various methods, impact assessment, mitigation support, direct communication with clients and agency personnel, and preparation of biology sections for EA / EIS / EIAs and other provincial and federal environmental documents. Preparing budgets and successful proposals are an essential element of this position. Skills / Qualifications    

The successful candidate would be a senior ecologist experienced with marine fish / invertebrate species with 5+ years of experience Education: PhD in Biology, Wildlife, Ecology or related discipline; At least four years postdoc experience in fisheries science Languages: English and French required Required Skills: o Expertise in understanding habitat requirements of sensitive animal species of eastern Canada including the ability to independently run wildlife models including movement models (e.g., BCP Analysis), time series analysis, spatial analysis and fisheries stock assessments; A minimum of 5 years’ experience with “R Statistical package” and specifically, a minimum of three years’ experience with TMB; Candidate must also have the ability to use INLA-package in R o Applicant will demonstrate firm understanding of the environmental documentation process including impact assessment and mitigation and an aptitude to efficiently prepare wildlife sections of EA / EISs; Must also have experience in the implementation of mitigation measures; Applicant will have excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business and work closely (both in a lead and support role) with other environmental professionals Desired Skills: Experience and established relationships with local, provincial and federal regulatory agency and scientific staff a plus

Position Status: Fulltime, Permanent Rate of Pay: $90,000
