“Teen Hygiene Drive” a Big Success!

Julie Michael is a junior at JW Mitchell High School and over the summer she heard Sheriff Nocco talking about the struggle of homeless teenagers in Pasco County and their challenges in returning to school.

Julie reached out to the Sheriff’s department to help and decided to run a “teen hygiene item drive” so these students would have what they need to feel good about themselves for school. She

collected and delivered over 600 items to the Pasco Sheriff Office so they could distribute where help is most needed!

A few fun facts about Julie: in addition to this being her summer outreach, she is the FIRST girl to ever play Varsity Football at Mitchell High School. She also plays 3 other varsity sports: soccer, weightlifting, and lacrosse. She’s officer in the Mitchell Navy JROTC, and captain of her soccer team at Tampa Bay United. Julie juggles all this while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. She volunteered over the summer at the new Starkey Ranch K-8 school in the office and also for their football camp. She never stops and is always looking for ways to help and to make an impact.
