Bethpage Is Now Fourleaf Federal Credit Union

Marking the next chapter in its 83-year history, Bethpage Federal Credit Union is now officially FourLeaf Federal Credit Union. New signs and branding were unveiled today at FourLeaf’s headquarters and all of its branches across Long Island, Queens and New Jersey.

The name change, which is part of a strategic rebranding initiative, comes at a time when the credit union, the largest in the Northeast region, is expanding its presence to even more communities in New York and the Tri-State area. The new name, FourLeaf, represents the credit union’s commitment to community, prosperity, innovation and purpose, while a new logo – two intertwined infinity symbols – signals infinite possibilities for its members and the communities it serves.

“FourLeaf members will continue to receive the same great service they know and expect, with easy and convenient banking options to meet all of their financial goals and needs,” said Linda Armyn, President and CEO. “We plan to continuously enhance our member

offerings and are thrilled about what the future holds.”

All membership information remains the same and members will, of course, continue to see their favorite branch staff as well.

FourLeaf remains committed to making a positive impact on the communities it serves through grants, partnerships, and community programs. This includes the annual Air Show at Jones Beach –continuing as normal as the FourLeaf Air Show at Jones Beach –the Turkey Drive benefiting Island Harvest, Voluntary Income Tax Assistance, the Northwell Health Walk, and many other initiatives.

In addition, the Money Like a Woman movement, launched in 2024, will continue to grow under FourLeaf this year, with several new programs inspired by women and designed to benefit everyone. For the latest updates and announcements, visit FourLeafFCU.com/women.

Benefits Of Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way for individuals to strengthen their communities, but it also can be a unique way for individuals to improve their own overall happiness. A 2020 study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies examined 70,000 participants, each of whom received surveys that asked questions regarding their volunteering habits and mental health. The study found that, when compared to those who did not volunteer, people who had volunteered in the previous 12 months were more satisfied with their lives and gave their overall health higher ratings. The frequency of giving back to one’s community also may affect just how much volunteering affects mental health. Study participants who volunteered at least once per month rated their mental health even higher than those who volunteered but did so infrequently.

Town Of Babylon To Host Career Fair For High School Students, Young Adults

Event To Focus On Career Opportunities

For Those Not Attending College Aimed At Filling Future Workforce Shortages

Town of Babylon Councilmen Anthony Manetta and Terence McSweeney are excited to announce their 2025 Career Fair, an invaluable opportunity for high school students, young adults, recent graduates, and families to explore potential career paths and connect with industry professionals. The event will take place on April 30th , from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Town Hall Annex Gym, located at 281 Phelps Lane, North Babylon.

The Career Fair will focus on providing career guidance and job opportunities for students and young adults who may not be pursuing traditional college paths. Attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from trade unions, first responder agencies, healthcare organizations, and a variety of local private sector companies

offering promising career options.

Councilman Manetta, who also is Chairman of the Town of Babylon Small Business Committee, cites a 2023 survey conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York that highlights the need to fill the pending workforce shortages across the region, “Worker shortages are a significant issue on Long Island, with nearly a third of businesses identifying hiring and compensation as top concerns in the 2023 Long Island Economic Survey. Factors driving worker shortages include an aging population, a lack of affordable housing, and a high cost of living.

Business leaders noted difficulties in attracting workers to Long Island and recruiting employees with specialized or technical skills.” 1

“This event is an excellent resource for young people and their families to learn about career paths that do not require a four-year degree,” said Councilman Manetta. “We are bringing together local manufacturing companies, trade unions, and professionals to help connect our students to good-paying, stable jobs right here on Long Island.”

The Long Island Federation of Labor, AFLCIO, and the Building and Construction Trades

Council of Nassau & Suffolk Counties, AFLCIO, and the Town of Babylon Chamber of Commerce Collaborative are partnering to present this important event. Their collaboration

ensures a wide range of career options are available, including opportunities in skilled trades, emergency services, and healthcare. Students, families, recent graduates, and guidance counselors and presenting companies are all encouraged to attend. Parents who want to encourage their children to volunteer may find their efforts at doing so are more convincing if they volunteer themselves. A study published in the Journal of Adolescence examined the effects that parents who volunteer and talk about volunteering have on children. Researchers found that the children of volunteers were 27 percent more likely to volunteer than children whose parents did not volunteer. In addition, adolescents were 47 percent more likely to volunteer when their parents volunteered and talked about volunteering with their children.

Recipe Of The Week: Beetroot Soup With Mixed Seeds

Certainfoods tend to hit the spot a little more convincingly during particular times of year. For instance, it’s hard to resist a hearty comfort food when the weather outside is cold and the winter winds are howling. Come springtime, lighter fare regains its place in the spotlight. As spring blooms return, foodies looking for something that won’t bust their belts can try this recipe for “Beetroot Soup with Mixed Seeds” courtesy of Lines+Angles.

Makes 4 servings

For the soup:

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion

1 finely chopped garlic clove

3 chopped celeries

1 teaspoon dried marjoram

1/2 teaspoon dried dill

5 cups vegetable stock, plus extra as needed

1 1/4 lb. pickled beets, cubed, juice reserved

Directions:

2 tablespoons plain yogurt

Salt

Freshly ground black peppercorns

To serve:

4 tablespoons plain yogurt

2 tablespoons chopped pistachio nuts, shelled

2 tablespoons black chia seeds

2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds

2 tablespoons golden linseeds or linseeds

1 handful mint leaves

1. For the soup: Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan set over medium heat until hot.

2. Add the onion, garlic, celery, and a generous pinch of salt, cooking for 6 to 7 minutes until softened.

3. Stir in the dried herbs and vegetable stock. Bring to a simmer before stirring in the beets.

4. Simmer gently for 20 to 25 minutes until the beetroot is very tender to the tip of a knife.

5. Purée with an immersion blender, adding in some of the reserved beetroot juice to thin out the consistency to your liking; you can also thin it out with more stock or some water.

6. Return the soup to a simmer and stir in the yogurt and some salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm over a very low heat, making sure the soup does not boil.

7. To serve: When ready to serve, ladle into warm bowls and top with some yogurt.

8. Garnish with a scattering of chopped pistachios, mixed seeds and some mint leaves before serving.
