With 65 groups participating, the streets were packed with spectators, and excitement was in the air. Ryder and Past Chamber President Gary Slavin served as Grand Marshals for this inaugural event.

Town Launches ‘Trees For Tomorrow’ Poster Contest For 4th Graders
Calling all young artists and environmentalists!
Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Andrew Monteleone are excited to announce the return of the Town’s Environmental Poster Contest, open to all 4th grade students in the Town of Oyster Bay. This year’s theme, Trees for Tomorrow, encourages students to showcase the vital role trees play in preserving our environment.
“This contest is a fantastic way to inspire young minds about the importance of protecting our natural resources,” said Supervisor Saladino.
“By learning about the benefits of trees, students gain a greater appreciation for the environment and the role they play in safeguarding it for the future.” Students are invited to
get creative and design a poster highlighting how trees contribute to a healthier planet. Here are some key facts they may consider in their artwork:
• Oxygen Powerhouse – Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, helping us breathe cleaner air. (Did you know? 100 trees remove 53 tons of carbon dioxide and 430 pounds of other air pollutants per year!)
• Nature’s Purifier –Trees filter air and water, promoting a healthier environment.
• Natural Cooling System – Trees provide shade and help cool neighborhoods.
• Wildlife Habitat – Trees support biodiversity by offering food and
shelter to countless species.
• Health & Wellness Boost – Trees encourage outdoor activities, benefiting both physical and mental well-being. How to Enter
Posters must be created on paper no larger than 12”x18” (no edible materials allowed).
The top three winning posters will be displayed at a Town facility and featured in an upcoming Town of Oyster Bay Environmental Newsletter.

Recipe Of The Week: Beetroot Soup With Mixed Seeds
Certainfoods tend to hit the spot a little more convincingly during particular times of year. For instance, it’s hard to resist a hearty comfort food when the weather outside is cold and the winter winds are howling. Come springtime, lighter fare regains its place in the spotlight. As spring blooms return, foodies looking for something that won’t bust their belts can try this recipe for “Beetroot Soup with Mixed Seeds” courtesy of Lines+Angles.
Makes 4 servings
For the soup:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion
1 finely chopped garlic clove
3 chopped celeries
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried dill
5 cups vegetable stock, plus extra as needed
1 1/4 lb. pickled beets, cubed, juice reserved
Directions:
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
Salt
Freshly ground black peppercorns
To serve:
4 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons chopped pistachio nuts, shelled
2 tablespoons black chia seeds
2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons golden linseeds or linseeds
1 handful mint leaves
1. For the soup: Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan set over medium heat until hot.
2. Add the onion, garlic, celery, and a generous pinch of salt, cooking for 6 to 7 minutes until softened.
3. Stir in the dried herbs and vegetable stock. Bring to a simmer before stirring in the beets.
4. Simmer gently for 20 to 25 minutes until the beetroot is very tender to the tip of a knife.
5. Purée with an immersion blender, adding in some of the reserved beetroot juice to thin out the consistency to your liking; you can also thin it out with more stock or some water.
6. Return the soup to a simmer and stir in the yogurt and some salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm over a very low heat, making sure the soup does not boil.
7. To serve: When ready to serve, ladle into warm bowls and top with some yogurt.
8. Garnish with a scattering of chopped pistachios, mixed seeds and some mint leaves before serving.

The Massapequa Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted its First Inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 15, 2025!
The parade was the vision of Chamber President Robin Hepworth, who had long believed that Massapequa deserved its own St. Patrick’s Day celebration. She worked tirelessly to bring this event to life, collaborating closely with Parade Chair Keith Wilson to ensure everything was a success.
Hepworth shared her excitement, stating: "This event is something I have long believed was overdue for our community, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see it finally come to life. We invited all Chamber member businesses, Massapequa schools, and community organizations to march and participate in what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition."
With over 67 groups participating, the streets were packed with spectators, and the excitement was in the air. The community came together in the spirit of unity and festivity, making it a truly special day for all.

This memorial pays tribute to residents and individuals with ties to the Town who lost their lives due to 9/11-related illnesses, including cancers linked to toxic exposure at Ground Zero. Each September, newly inscribed names are unveiled, ensuring that these heroes and their sacrifices are never forgotten.

NY Islanders Street Hockey Clinic
In partnership with the New York Islanders, Oyster Bay Town Councilman Tom Hand invites boys and girls interested in learning hockey to a special Street Hockey Clinic at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. This 6-week program will introduce children aged Pre-K through 5th grade to the game of hockey in a non-competitive and instructional clinic.
Councilman Hand stated, “We’re pleased to partner with the New York Islanders to offer this incredible program to boys and girls of all skill levels. This unique clinic is the perfect opportunity to develop skills in stickhandling and shooting, build confidence, and have fun on and off the rink!”

Las boletas anticipadas por correo o en ausencia deben ser recibidas por el Secretario del Distrito Escolar, o en el lugar
de votación en la Biblioteca, a más tardar a las 5:00 p.m., hora prevaleciente, el martes 8 de abril de 2025. Una lista de las personas a las que se les habrá emitido una boleta anticipada por correo o en ausencia estará disponible en la Oficina del Secretario del Distrito Escolar en cada uno de los cinco días anteriores al día de la elección, excepto los sábados y domingos, y dicha lista también se publicará en el lugar de votación en la elección.
ADEMÁS, SE NOTIFICA que un votante calificado cuya capacidad para comparecer personalmente en el lugar de votación se vea sustancialmente afectada por razones de enfermedad permanente o discapacidad física, y cuyo registro de registro haya sido marcado como “discapacitado permanentemente” por la Junta Electoral de conformidad con las disposiciones de la Ley de Educación, tendrá derecho a recibir una boleta
de voto ausente sin hacer solicitudes separadas por ello.
SE DA AVISO ADICIONAL de que los votantes militares que no están registrados actualmente pueden solicitar registrarse como votantes calificados. Los votantes militares que son votantes calificados del Distrito de Bibliotecas pueden presentar una solicitud para una boleta militar. Los votantes militares pueden designar una preferencia para recibir un registro de votante militar, una solicitud de boleta militar o una boleta militar por correo, transmisión de fax o correo electrónico en su solicitud de dicho registro, solicitud de boleta o boleta. Los formularios de registro de votantes militares y las solicitudes de boletas militares deben recibirse en la Oficina del Secretario del Distrito Escolar (dirección anterior) a más tardar a las 5:00 p.m. del viernes 14 de marzo de 2025. Earth Day is now a global event, but its origins are somewhat humble. Prior to the 1960s, awareness of the link between public health and pollution was minimal. However, according to EarthDay.org, the 1962 publication of Silent Spring by American marine biologist, writer and conservationist Rachel Carson was a watershed moment for the environmental movement. The book did much to raise awareness of the effects of pollution on public health. Indeed, the publication of Carson's book proved a pivotal step toward the eventual establishment of Earth Day in 1970, which EarthDay.org characterizes as the dawn of the modern environmental movement. April 22, 2025 is Earth Day!
