Healthy and Tasty Red Lentil Curry Indian Recipe If you love in Indian food, you would know about this delicious curry. Ingredients:             

2 cups red lentils 1 large onion, diced 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons curry paste 1 tablespoon curry powder 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon white sugar 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger 1 (14.25 ounce) can tomato puree


How to make the dish Most of the LA Indian restaurants use a modernized version of the original recipe. We are going to share the traditional way of cooking this dish. You need to wash the lentils in ice cold water. Once you can see that there is no discoloration of water, put the washed lentils into a pot with enough hot water. Bring it to boil and cover the pot. Make sure to reduce the heat to medium for 15 to 20 minutes, until the lentils become tender. Drain the water. Now, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet. Add chopped onions until you see a light brown color. Add curry paste, curry powder, turmeric, chili powder, sugar, salt, cumin, ginger and garlic in a large bowl. Add this paste to fried onions and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add tomato puree and lentils with little water and bring it to boil. Serve this dish with steamed Basmati rice.
