Koshino House The site of the Koshino house is located within a densely populate suburb of Osaka Japan. From the interior, views have been designed to focus attention to the wooded area of the site, and creates a rural aesthetic. While the modern concrete forms dominate the site, they maintain a delicate balence with the open space located on the lower potion of the site.

To access the lower level, visitors must travel down a stair directly opposite the main entry. Once on the lower leve, there is a connecting corridor that links all three buildings. This corridor is a narrow space that opens at both ends to spectacular views.

This rendering illustrates the simplicity in the design and interior aesthetic. Natural elements (concrete, wood, steel) serve as the primary elements inside and out. Modeled in Autodesk Revit, rendered in TwinMotion

The experience of the Koshino house is one of light and shadow. The architect was very deliberate in his placement of windows and skylights to control the amount of light in the building. The quality of light is equally important to the experience of the Koshino house. Most glazing faces East or South while skylights wash the northern walls turning the interior into a giant sundial.

This rendering illustrates the quality of light on a winter morning. Modeled in Autodek Revit, rendered in TwinMotion, enhanced with Adobe Photoshop CS6

The courtyard between the main house and guest house creates a crevasse that like the interior space, is dominated by the contras of light and shadow.
