ERIC GUÉNA
ERIC GUÉNA Eric Guéna was born on 25 November 1953 in Louvres (Val d’Oise, France). At the age of twenty, he first travelled to Asia, where he studied local artistic techniques such as “Sumi-è” (Japanese ink painting), lacquer painting, traditional decorative gold leaf painting and Japanese screen production. He began to restore Japanese and Chinese works of art while travelling through Asia. That’s how he learnt and became proficient in both western and oriental pictorial techniques. Eric Guéna implements numerous layers of colored coating, carefully polished and repolished, to obtain the peculiar silky look, so typical for his work. His creative approach is influenced by GODAÏ, the japonese concept of the 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind (Air) and Emptiness, the 5 pillars which ensure the balance of the Universe; in this concept his paintings could be considered as a miniature cosmos. He currently lives and works in Paris. Gallery Famarte collaborates with him on a permanent basis. “Each painting is a surprising and magical encounter, suggesting something fleeting, the other side of life…” Marie-Pascale Meunier His last exhibitions: 2020 : Gallery Famarte Meise Belgium (Naarden Art fair) Gallery Europia Paris - France 2019 : Gallery Corinne Le Monnier Le Havre - France 2019 : Gallery Famarte Meise - Belgium (Eurantica and Antica Namur) 2018 : Gallery Corinne Le Monnier Le Havre - France 2018 : Begramoff Gallery AAF Bruxelles - Belgium 2018 : Gallery Famarte Meise - Belgium (Eurantica and Antica Namur) 2017 : Begramoff Gallery Bruxelles - Belgium 2016 : Gallery Famarte Knokke - Belgium 2015 : L’Atelier 457 Waterloo - Belgium 2014 : Gallery La Porte Rouge Bruxellles - Belgium 2013 : Gallery La Porte Rouge Bruxelles - Belgium 2012 : Gallery Famarte Knokke - Belgium 2012 : BNP Private Banking Bruxelles - Belgium
