WELCOME. As a graphic designer, I strive to create projects that influence and impact our society. This design portfolio represents my passion, technique, and devotion as an artist. From the front to back cover, each page was diligently designed to showcase my innovation, creativity, and authenticity. The portfolio features projects within corporate identity, illustration, and printing which represents my interests in designing for local, private, corporate, or nonprofit organization and businesses. Each detail has been deliberately illustrated to enhance memory, demand, and marketability. Not only do my designs incorporate marketable components that can establish a company or brand, but my technique and passion within my designs are unmatched. OBJECTIVE
Fitness & Balance’s mission statement is to find harmony between physicality and well-being. This is important due to societal pressures of obtaining a physique body, while omitting general welfare. At Fitness & Balance, we promote well-rounded lifestyles. We implement dynamic training such as yoga, plyometrics, meditation, core strengthening, and stretching. It is important to appreciate the uniqueness of every body; therefore, we target a workout that is suitable for your body and mental well-being. SOLUTION
The goal of this logo is to showcase that true fitness cannot be achieved without balance. The letter, F, is converged within the letter B because it represents the synergy between physicality and well-being. The circular emblem surrounding Fitness & Balance is seen as a badge because it symbolizes hard work, dedication, and commitment. Orange is the dominant color of this logo. According to the article, Color Psychology: The Psychological Effects of Colors, orange encompasses enthusiasm, change, and energy (Art Therapy, 2012). The meaning of orange coincides with the theme of Fitness and Balance. The vibrant and energetic color, depicts a lifestyle change and commitment to health, similarly to the logo. OBJECTIVE
Precision HR Management’s mission statement is to assess human resources needs of companies, organizations and brands. Precision designs an individualized plan and delivers quality and accurate processes tailored to maximize a business's full potential. The goal of Precision is to guide and develop companies in need of a purpose. SOLUTION
The name Precision HR Management was chosen due to the connotation behind the word precision. Precision represents meticulousness and conciseness, which are important when consulting and guiding companies that are attempting to expand and develop their brand. By incorporating an arrow within the letter p of Precision, the tone of the company is visualized, in order to prompt customers expectations of Precision HR Management. According to the article, Color Psychology: The Psychological Effects of Colors, teal is a gender neutral tone (Art Therapy, 2012); thus, chosen to be the color of the logo because it exemplifies the company’s willingness to work with any brand.

OBJECTIVE
Real & Sincere is an urban clothing brand that is committed to bringing relatable and affordable high quality attire. The company brings an emotional connection to its customers that cannot be found elsewhere because we all struggle to find the clothes that fit our styles. So why struggle to pick other stores when Real & Sincere has just the style that you are looking for? Street, casual, or formal, they have just the merchandise for you. SOLUTION
Real & Sincere’s primary illustration features an emoji that is defined by struggle. The emoji represents the founder of the brand, which illustrates him shrugging. The logo symbolizes the doubt and uncertainty he overcame when he attempted to establish and create his clothing brand. This logo was developed to represent each hurdle and obstacle he conquered. The emoji was simplistically redesigned to illustrate manageable, yet elaborative logo as compared to the former blandish and mediocre display. A typeface was added to further enhance the brand’s image by providing details and thoroughness. Real & Sincere’s logo represents the dedication and commitment the brand has to achieving their missionary statement and aspirations: providing memorable and affordable urban attire.

OBJECTIVE
Ice cream is not only delicious, but a great way to cool down during a humid summer day! Indulging in this frozen dessert serves as a symbol for summertime festivities. The summer is the unchallenged season for eating this delicious delicacy; so, what better way than to celebrate than during National Ice Cream Month in July! My inspiration to create ice cream apparel not only stems from the love for the dessert but also the connotation and symbolism behind it. Ice cream represents smiles, laughter, delight, and joy, which is reproduced in the clothing. The vibrant reminiscent colors stimulate vivacity. It will have you chanting: “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.�

onal Ice Cream Month was the influence behind the clothing apparel design because it not only demonted appreciation for ice cream, but it also was a marketing strategy, as well. The demand and cost of ice m increases during the summer season, particularly during the month of July. It is constantly at the front of both consumers and business minds due to its marketability, taste, and availability. By merchang clothing apparel that showcases our societies obsession with this delicious dessert, I will capitalize from established ice cream marketing strategies in the summer. An ice cream truck and three flavors of ice m will be displayed on a hat, shirt, or sweater. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are the main flavors of apparel due to their popularity. These flavors encompass long-lasting childhood memories. They embody and happiness. Ice cream is a connection from our past to our current future. Ice cream is enjoyed by yone; therefore, the apparel is unisex and available for all to wear.

SOLUTION
Inspired by Shake Shack and Five Guys, I designed Bang Burger with the intent of it being a memorable and aesthetic household restaurant. A burger restaurant was selected due to the marketability and transcultural connection. Burgers come in variations, combinations, and assortments just like people. The logo represents this connectivity. The name Bang Burger was selected due to its alliteration that grasps consumers attention and implication of the savory flavor of the company's food. So come try the delicious burgers and see if Bang Banger is worth its name.

A single plant can make a difference by enhancing the quality of our planet. Although a plant is small, it has the power to create a ripple effect that may change the outcome of our home. Similarly to a flower growing to serve its role on earth, so would a blooming child destined for greatness. Just as a child is small and young, they too can become a beacon of hope for the future. One child in particular, stands out amongst many. Her name is Nia, meaning purpose, and she has a song to play in the universe. The artwork below is a representation of her destiny: to continue find the meaning of life itself and go beyond her own measurement - just as a flower can.

MIKE O’ THE POET: NYC DNA SOLUTION
Just as New York City skyscrapers capture t he sky, Mike O’ The Poet grasps t he hearts of people t hroug h spoken word. Every rhyme, stanza, and verse inspires and unifies individuals of diverse backgrounds. His words are representations of New York City. It provokes emotion and passion - similarly to t he people of t he city. As he performs in cafes, c hurc hes, events and gat herings, he not only influences ot hers wit h his spoken word, but is also imprinted by New York City. Therefore, I was inspired to use a p hotos hoot of Mike O’ and embedded t he skyscrapers of New York City into his image to demonstrate t hat New York City is forever intertwined in his DNA.

Education
Personal Statement My name is Nekwan Luke. I am a freelance graphic designer, currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Community Development from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My degree not only catalyzed my passion for graphic design, but it also has made me an excellent artist, as well. For instance, art classes created a solid foundation for artistic technique, proficiency, and ingenuity. I have researched, studied, and presented various analytical reports for architecture projects, which has strengthened my networking, communication, and organizational skills. Currently, I am managing my own brand, Nekwan Luke, that has a strong social media presence through my website, Instagram, and Twitter. It showcases my artistic, business, and marketing abilities in both photography and graphic design. As an artist, I worked with clients such as Fitness by Ben, Precision HR Management, KulchaShock Multi-Media, and more. I created logos, album covers works, flyers, and designed clothing apparel. Each class and project has molded and inspired me into my career of graphic design.
