The team was coached by Danielle Hagler, Nelson County Extension agent for 4-H and Youth Development and Madelyn Bolin, Nelson County 4-Her and former National team member. Chaperoning the event were our intern, Nicole Howard and volunteer and former national team member, Ben Bolin. While at the Invitational, 4-H members competed for overall team and individual awards in several categories. Events included tree identification, tree measurement, compass and pacing, insect and disease identification, topographic map use, forest evaluation, the forestry bowl and a

Teen Camp

Shooting Sports Education Club At the August meeting, members were preparing for state tournament by receiving their final discipline

assignments. Members will be attending extra practices to make sure they are confident and safe at state

tournament. Members heard Madilyn Bolin speak on her National Shooting Sports Ambassador training.

Nature Club Lake Cumberland 4-H

Camp held their very first Teen Camp. Nelson County had four teens attend and they had a blast! Throughout the week teens picked up trash around the grounds for civic engagement, enjoyed a color fight and a food fight, and also enjoyed a presentation by Rachel Noble and the state officers about other ways to get involved with 4-H.

Nature Club studied creek ecosystems at their last meeting! At Station Run

State Communications Day Congratulations to the Following Nelson County 4-Hers who competed at the Kentucky 4-H State Communications day Contest:

Teen Conference Nelson County 4-H is so incredibly proud of this group of teens and volunteers. In this picture there is a retired 4 -H State Officer, a returning SET Board Member, a returning Performing Arts Troupe member, a retiring

Gold winner, 3 silver winners, a bronze winner, one emerald interviewee, one amazing intern, two dedicated parent volunteers (one behind the camera), and two first time teen conference attendees!

Measure the Candidates, vendor booths, tractor rides, petting zoo and Ag Olympics! Everyone had a fantastic time and the weather was not too terribly hot for the middle of

July. Big thanks to all who helped and participated in the event. Make sure to schedule the same weekend in your 2019 calendar for Ag Day and 5K!

Ag Day 5K Nelson County 4-H Youth, Agents and Volunteers helped plan and had a ball at Nelson County Ag Day and 5K 2018. Events throughout the day included the Ag Day 5K, Farm to Table Breakfast,

Pottery Workshop

The Nelson County 4-H robotics Team has spent many hours practicing for the state contest. We wish them luck as they compete at the KY State Fair.

Matt Gaddie shared his talents and knowledge of pottery with Nelson County 4-Hers during two pinch pot workshops. The 4-Hers learned about the therapeutic nature of the arts will receive their projects back after they are fired in Mr. Gaddie’s

wood fired kiln. The projects will be eligible for entry in the Nelson County fair next year. Nelson Ocunty 4-H looks forward to partnering with more artist throughout the year to offer additional arts workshops.
