Jetstar announced yesterday that Nelson was one of four regional centres that it would be flying to as part of an expansion
of regional routes. Jetstar says a flight to Auckland will cost $49 one way and to fly to Wellington will cost just $45. Head of Jetstar New Zealand, Grant Kerr, says he was smiling “ear to ear” after the announcement at Wellington airport, and he told Nelson Weekly that it will be great
news for Nelson. “We know we can grow the region from the tourism perspective and get more Nelsonians flying. We’re here for the long haul and we’re excited.” Jetstar is the third airline to confirm it will start flying to Nelson this year, but unlike
Kiwi Regional Airlines and Originair, it will compete directly against existing carrier Air New Zealand. Jetstar says it will mean much lower prices for Nelson air travellers and the news was
