City comes alive for parade Thousands of people lined the streets of Nelson’s central business district on Friday night for the annual masked parade. The spectacular parade was themed “world of books” this year and entrants went from Lord of the Rings to Willy Wonka to Where’s Wally. More than 3500 took part in the parade with an estimated 20,000 watching from footpaths and car parks. The supreme winner was Nayland Primary School. Axel De Maupeou from Nelson City Council says the event was a huge success. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so we are very happy.” For video and photos of the parade, visit www.nelsonlive.co.nz
