A high-speed car chase through Nelson in the early hours of Sunday morning lead police across 17km of the city but the

woman charged with the driving offences denies that it was her behind the wheel. Maia Allana Phoebe Samson, 25, appeared in the Nelson District Court on Monday charged with driving in a dangerous manner, failing to stop when

followed by red and blue lights and a charge of procure/possess methamphetamine. She denies that she was the driver of the vehicle and says the other occupant was in fact the driver. However, according to police,

officers allegedly saw a car driving at speed on the Richmond deviation shortly after 4am on Sunday morning. The car made an unsafe lane change which prompted police to follow the car and a short time later police attempted to pull

the vehicle over on Annesbrook Drive. The car initially stopped on Quarantine Rd and as police approached the car on foot, it drove away.

Goalie scores a stunner Jonty Dine It took more than 90 minutes and required the goalkeeper to score it, but Suburbs escaped with a dramatic late equaliser in injury time at a sodden Saxton on Sunday. Corey Wilson’s first ever goal as a keeper was a crucial one as Suburbs snapped a draw from the jaws of defeat against Caversham. “I knew we needed a point to stay top of the league so with a minute to go I thought ‘why not go up and have a go?’”
