Tramper reunited with family Charles Anderson An experienced tramper who was feared missing in Golden Bay has been reunited with her family after she became lost in the Kahurangi National Park.

Police are praising their Golden Bay volunteer LandSAR colleagues for the successful rescue on the Kaituna Track. The woman was running the track on Sunday afternoon and was expected to be picked up

by her husband and children at the Golden Bay end of the track around 6pm. However, she did not arrive as planned, and the woman’s husband called police after shortly after midnight.

Senior Constable Dave Cogger, police search and rescue incident controller, says her husband did, however, receive a text message around 7.35am today reporting that she was lost.

He says it’s likely that the message was sent out the previous night, but she may have run into intermittent cell coverage overnight.

The contestants behind Dancing for a Cause gathered on Sunday to have their first dress rehearsal ahead of the big day on Saturday. The event brings together eight local personalities partnered each with a trained ballroom dancer. Each will perform a ballroom dance in front of a panel of judges in an attempt to be declared the Nelson Dancing for a Cause winner. Organiser Emma SilkeFrench says there are still a few tickets to sell but she is hoping it will be a packed event. “It’s been a long, hard road

with Covid and trying to regather our momentum. It will just be fantastic when those doors open and we have a show.” She says if everyone dances how they should it will be an “awesome” night with amazing moves, costumes and music. “The spectators will be on the edge of their seats.” All proceeds from the event at the Trafalgar Centre goes towards supporting Nelson Tasman Hospice. People can still make donations to the cause at https:// dancingforacause.co.nz/ contestants/. Read about some of the contestents on pages 8 and 9.
