While our students are here, our goal is to provide opportunities of personal growth through cutting edge instruction in the classroom and athletic programs. Northeast recognizes that its primary commitment is to the education of our student-athlete.

Our vision is to develop one of the premier athletic programs in the nation. To that end, the completion of our Baseball/Softball complex was certainly a step in the right direction. In addition, the beginning of our Game, Set, Match capital giving campaign for our state of the art tennis complex shows our continued commitment to excellence.

Recently Northeast was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School. Receiving this coveted honor exhibits to the world our commitment to cutting edge technology within our instructional process.

I hope you will have time prior to or after this athletic event to walk or drive around our campus and get a small glance at what we have to offer. You are welcome to visit anytime with our students, faculty, and staff.

NORTHEAST’S GREER EARNS WEEKLY HONORS AFTER MEMORABLE DEBUT

Caden Greer can forever remember his inaugural start for the Northeast Mississippi Community College football team as an award-winning performance.

Greer was selected as the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Offensive Player of the Week after guiding the Tigers to their first victory of the young season.

“Caden did a wonderful job. We were very pleased with him and his effort,” said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. “He conducted the offense very well. He threw some very accurate footballs. The lights just came on and he was a gamer.”

Greer led the Tigers to one of their top offensive outputs in modern-day program history. The 49 points that Northeast scored against Southwest Mississippi Community College is tied for fifth most in a single

game while its 483 total yards is eighth best on record.

The Kosciusko High School graduate accounted for 231 of those yards with 215 coming through the air. He was 11 of 19 passing with three of his completions going for touchdowns.

Greer connected with five different Tigers. Will Stokes was his top target with four receptions, including a 50-yard catchand-run early in the fourth quarter that gave Northeast the lead for good.

It was the second big play of the contest for Greer, who also hooked up with JT Beasley in the opening period for a 79-yard touchdown. His other score was a six-yard toss to Cameron Isaiah that finished a seven minute, 36 second drive right before halftime.

Greer engineered another seven-plus

minute possession that sealed the win for the Tigers. He had a big fourth down conversion pass to Makyi Reed-Jones before Antonio Kennedy rushed into the end zone four plays later.

“I want to thank God, my coaches and my family for supporting me,” Greer said. “I’m just surrounded by great people. We’ve got some good receivers, running backs and five good o-linemen up front.

“Starting off the game, I was a little nervous, but after the first series I was all right. I was comfortable in the pocket and just delivered the ball where it needed to go.”

Greer is the first Northeast quarterback to earn MACCC Player of the Week honors since Kevin Hurley, who is now in his senior year at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), did so during the coronavirus shortened 2020 campaign.

2024 HOLMES FOOTBALL ROSTER

PRINCE DRAFTED BY JAGUARS, SIGNS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR ROOKIE CONTRACT

Deantre Prince has extended Northeast Mississippi Community College’s streak of having at least one active player in the National Football League (NFL) for another year.

Prince made the initial 53-man roster for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also signed his first professional contract, which is worth more than $4 million over four seasons.

“We’re very blessed to have such a great guy like him come through our program,” said Tigers head coach Greg Davis. “I’m very proud of him and the adversity he fought through to get to where he is today. I think Jacksonville got a lot better obviously.

“He’s an exciting player to watch because he’s got some explosion and great cover skills. He runs as well backwards as most people run forward. He can get in-and-out of his breaks quickly. He’s a very good cover corner. He’s probably one of the most athletic people I’ve ever seen.”

Prince was drafted earlier this spring by Jacksonville in the fifth round with pick number 153 overall. He became the second Northeast alumnus in the last three years to be selected along with Sam Williams by the Dallas Cowboys.

He was the sixth NFL Draft pick in program history. That list includes Robert Cobb (Los Angeles Rams), Mike Williams (Philadelphia Eagles), Jerome Woods (Kansas City Chiefs), Michael Boireau (Minnesota Vikings) and Williams.

There has been a former Tiger in the NFL now for 14 consecutive seasons. Mario Addison started this historic stretch by joining the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2011.

Prince is the second Northeast standout all-time to suit up for the Jaguars. Daniel Ross became the first when Jacksonville claimed him off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders in December of 2020.

Prince was widely considered as Ole

Miss’s best cornerback his junior and senior seasons. He placed in the top five of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with 11 pass break ups while helping the Rebels rise in the rankings to as high as No. 7 in 2022.

His lone interception that year came during a home victory over Auburn (Ala.) University. Prince had 39 total tackles, including a season-best six takedowns in a win at Vanderbilt (Tenn.) University.

The 6-0, 185-pounder participated in 51 games in an Ole Miss uniform. Prince made 36 starts, including in the Rebels’ appearances at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and the Allstate Sugar Bowl over the last two years.

Perhaps his most memorable play at Ole Miss was a leaping pick against Vanderbilt in November 2021. Prince somehow kept his left foot in play before landing out-of-bounds to preserve a two-possession lead for the Rebels late in the fourth quarter.

Prince was one of four Rebels that were chosen by headman Lane Kiffin to participate in the 2023 SEC Football Kickoff Media Days. He was a twotime Preseason All-SEC recipient from magazines published by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.

The Tigers went 5-1 and finished as the runner-up in the Mississippi Association

of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) North Division with Prince on its roster during the coronavirus shortened 2020 campaign.

He was well decorated during his lone season at Northeast with first-team allconference honors and Fall All-America second-team accolades from the Rivals recruiting network publication JCGridiron.

Prince accumulated 25 takedowns, three takeaways, three pass break ups and two tackles for loss that year. Both of his interceptions resulted in touchbacks that stopped potential scoring drives by the Tigers’ opposition.

He recorded a career-high 11 takedowns versus Northwest Mississippi Community College. His cumulative statistics between Northeast and Ole Miss are 135 tackles, 19 pass break ups, seven interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Prince was a four-star recruit and the No. 16 overall prospect in the Magnolia State coming out of Charleston High School according to ESPN.

He increased his draft stock at the NFL Combine by running a 4.38 40-yard dash, which was seventh best among all corner prospects in his class. Prince also competed in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game in Frisco, Texas.
