“ In Luxembourg, the country with the world’s second highest per capita gross domestic product and among the highest per capita GHG emissions, a new collaborative economic model is emerging based on the REconomy approach and co-operative values.

REconomy brings a unique and important lens to the emerging U.S. new economy movement. REconomy is a framework for placing social equity, environmental sustainability, and community resilience as central pillars of the economy we wish to create. Economic transformation in the United States is no small endeavor, but it’s vital to our survival as humanity on this planet. We’re excited and grateful to be able to use REconomy as a tool to support Transition Towns across the U.S. in building vibrant local economies that truly serve people and the planet.” Marissa Mommaerts, Transition U.S.

That the Local Entrepreneur Forum (LEF) provides a successful model for connecting local entrepreneurs and local investors is clear. After four years, what is also becoming clear is the growing sophistication and ambition arising from the events. This year, one of the big conversations generating serious interest is for the development of a regional bank – the Bank of Devon. Follow up meetings have already taken place. The local credit union, a participant in the first LEF in 2012, is now channelling some of that energy to increase its capacity and ultimately fill that role. Jay Tompt, Transition Town Totnes

Power can be returned to the people by simple things that are hiding as a treasure of time, waiting for us to interact and connect with them... things that inspired past generations... to touch our soil and feel conected again. Thanks to REconomia for making us rethink collectively, to see that another way of local abundance is still posible. Rulas de la Tierra, Transición Mexico

What is THE REconomy Project? The REconomy Project is part of the Transition Network, a global grassroots movement of communities seeking to strengthen their resilience to problems including climate change, rising energy prices, economic uncertainty and inequality. There are currently 11 Transition hubs supporting REconomy initiatives in their countries: Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Mexico, the Netherlands, UK and USA. A number of Transition initiatives are expanding their area of influence deep into their local economic system. The REconomy Project is here to help you do the same where you live – to take on the exciting challenge of transforming the economic destiny of your local community – moving away from the doomed ‘business as usual’ model and towards something that helps build resilience rather than destroy it, that offers opportunity and hope despite the challenges we face, and that demonstrates a system of trade and exchange that’s more sustainable, equitable and anchored in wellbeing, rather than economic growth at any cost.
