Daniela was his unique dancer, choreographer and collaborator in all creative activities. On his insistence, she personally (and uniquely) inherited several of Lindsay’s greatest solo dances, and today also continues his teaching and social media activities.

David was Lindsay’s closest all-round collaborator for 45 years, and has provided uniquely detailed authorial content on the website, illuminating Lindsay’s life and all his many-faceted creations and collaborators.

The result is an all-embracing Archive, freely offering copiable content: we are here to share his genius and keep him alive. You can find clear Sections on Biographies and adventures, The Story of The Lindsay Kemp Company, Photos and all Lindsay’s Shows from The Early Years until today, with detailed accounts of the nine Operas he directed, plus his Artworks and Exhibitions, and his amazing Workshops. The www.lindsaykemp.eu website is rich in all kinds of Kempian Archives, created by the two artists closest to him since 1973, while also continuing to generate new creative content and projects.

INTRODUCTION

Dear friends and viewers,

This is a free list of videos, films and documentaries about Lindsay Kemp and The Lindsay Kemp Company. It also includes some independent projects made by key members of the Company.

This list is not meant to be comprehensive and there are many exciting clips you can see from TV interviews with Lindsay Kemp that can be accessed by searching for 'Lindsay Kemp' on Youtube and Vimeo.

I have left out most music videos in which Lindsay had cameos, or feature films in which he had cameos, (such as Velvet Goldmine) because the list is getting too long! Lindsay's work extends to operas and ballets which he directed (such as Madame Butterfly) or were restaged by other companies (such as Midsummer Night's Dream). I have not included films of these productions in this list but you can see extracts of these productions under 'Operas and Ballets' in the SuZi Skelton Archive section of this list, and in the Lindsay Kemp YouTube.

“Hamlet himself - or themselves - is played by identical twins Anthony and David Meyer. [Who played in Lindsay Kemp's original version of 'The Maids' for the Traverse Theatre.] Hamlet was the film directing debut of Spanish-born Celestino Coronado, who made it for just £2,500 as his Royal College of Art diploma piece. Other cast members included Helen Mirren and civil servant turned gay icon Quentin Crisp as Polonius. Coronado paralleled his RCA studies with his role as artistic director of the Lindsay Kemp Company, with whom he later collaborated on the film A Midsummer Night's Dream (1984) and many other theatre pieces. Hamlet is dedicated to the then recently deceased Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, also known for his controversial reinventions of classic texts.”

THE SUZI SKELTON ARCHIVE OF THE LINDSAY KEMP COMPANY

SuZi Skelton created the Archive for the Lindsay Kemp Company in 1983. Working closely with Lindsay Kemp for decades, this project has grown into the main resource for researching and enjoying The Lindsay Kemp Company’s work, touring and production ephemera, backstage life and detailed records of company members.

SuZi was Lindsay’s Costume Designer on several productions (famously making the Kimonos in Onnagata) as well as appearing onstage. She has written a piece here about the inspiration behind the Archive:
