Gender Transformation
Through High Level Training Courses for Women’s Leader at Nepal Scouts
Nepal Scouts, a non-formal education movement contributes to the gender transformation through the youth programme that focuses on development of an individual in five dimensions. Nepal Scouts with the close coordination with UNICEF Nepal believes that young people become agents of change and contribute to their growth as active citizens. For the movement to be successful and efficient, developing trainers and enhancing their capacity are of utmost important. Thus, adult in scouting is a systematic approach for supporting adults to improve the effectiveness, commitment and motivation of the adult leadership for better delivery of the youth activities where both the organizations intervene.
Adolescent Psychosocial Advocacy
The Covid-19 outbreak back in 2019 created world of no mobility, interaction was online, socio-economic crisis, stigma in some communities and discrimination. Covid-19 have high levels of mental distress along with economic losses. Through the involvement of the scouts and through human centric design the different facets of story are collected and thus a story is developed that represents general mass. The theme of prevention mechanism is followed throughout the video based story-telling. The five videos were entitled as: 1. Comparision 2. Pressure 3. Chakkar 4. Dhusi 5.
Social Media
The five video as part of the human-centric design have a huge traction and many of the comments from the social media point to that direction. The email where some have shared the story also tells the thought process of the people. Alongside the video, an activity pack is also developed based on the five thematic areas that the video is worked on. The activity pack will be the guidelines for the young child to express themselves or to advocate the issues related to psychosocial health. This is a new collaboration between UNICEF Nepal and Nepal Scouts in the domain of young children. To advocate the messages across the social media platform, influencers such as Rekha Thapa, Reecha Sharma, Keki Adhikari, Ellena Chauhan and Kabita Nepali shared the messages across their social media. In addition to this, the media popularly known as “Routine of Nepal Banda” also advocate by sharing the videos. The social media platform is the go-to outlet for most of the young people.
