Welcome letter from our founders

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. We are honored to have the opportunity to be the founders of Central Pointe Christian Academy, a school with exemplary students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. We are blessed to have you form part of our family, and we are excited and eager to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success this school year.

A decade ago, CPCA was a small school with only 50 students and just one campus. Presently, we have four campuses throughout Central Florida, multiple campuses in Honduras and one campus in Puerto Rico. We have been blessed with over 1,000 students. The glory belongs to God.

All of us at CPCA are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a fantastic school year! This year is going to be amazing as we continue to impact students by spreading the love and word of God with them, providing academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.

MEET THE ADMINISTRATION

Mr. Nelson Perdomo Founder / Executive Director

Nelson O. Perdomo is the co-founder of Central Pointe Christian Academy. He currently serves as president of the CPCA board and also supervises the departments of Accounting, Human Resources, Building Maintenance, and Transportation.

Mrs. Olmi Maldonado Admissions Director

Mrs. Yanira Parés Founder / Executive Director

Mrs.Yanira is the Co-founder and Executive Director at Central Pointe Christian Academy. As Executive Director, Mrs. Yanira is responsible for managing and directing the operations of our campuses.

Mrs. Maldonado joined the dream/project of our founders in 2011 managing the admission process, overseeing all admission events, and working closely with the administrative team to promote the school to attract new families and retain current ones. With the passing of time, Mrs. Maldonado, our Admissions Director, continues to work passionately in growing student enrollment, while working with the community and families.

Mrs. Edna De Leon Director of Education

Mrs. Edna De Leon has faithfully served in Central Pointe Christian Academy since 2014. She has worked as a history teacher, lead teacher, school principal, lead principal, Accreditation Headmaster of the Steering Committee, and currently holds the position of Director of Education. Mrs. DeLeon has more than 25 years of experience in the educational field in both the public and private sectors.

Mrs. Anamari Melecio Human Resources Director

Mrs. Melecio joined CPCA in 2022. Her 25+ years of experience in the human resources and employee relations fields have brought professionalism and structure to CPCA’s HR function. Mrs. Melecio supports our founder’s mission to hire and retain the best available talent in the market and she firmly believes that “a well emotionally-invested employee, always want to contribute”, thus she is constantly assessing CPCA’s employee programs to make sure they respond to current staff needs.

OUR PRINCIPALS

Mr. Christian Martinez High School Campus Principal

In 2017, Central Pointe Christian Academy (CPCA) welcomed Mr. Martinez into the family of educators. Mr. Martinez began his career with CPCA as an English educator and lead teacher. In his current role as High School Principal, Mr. Martinez manages the operation and all functions of all grade levels. In addition, he supervises school staff regarding instruction, curriculum, and student programs.

Mrs. Magaly Hernandez Poinciana Campus Principal

Mrs. Hernandez joined the CPCA family in 2017 as an English teacher. In the year 2020 she was promoted to principal of our Poinciana Campus. In this capacity, Mrs. Hernandez oversees the daily operations and activities of the campus for all grade levels, as well as supervises school staff, and student programs

Mrs. Francis Rodriguez Kissimmee Campus Principal

Mrs. Rodriguez joined the CPCA family in 2017 as an educator and is now serving as a K-8th grade principal. She oversees the daily operations and activities for all grade levels, supervises school staff regarding instruction, curriculum and student programs.

Mrs. Wanda Diaz Learning Center Principal

Mrs. Diaz joined the CPCA family in 2017 as an educator and is now serving as principal for the Kissimmee and Poinciana Learning Centers. She oversees the daily operations and activities for all grade levels, supervises school staff regarding instruction, curriculum and student programs.

CPCA HANDBOOKS

Students, and parents are expected to become familiar with the provisions of the CPCA Code of Student Conduct and Parent/Student Handbook, as well as the rules and regulations adopted and implemented by the school board. Students are also expected to abide by the policies set forth so that they can get the most out of their school year.

Student Pick-Up Procedures

A. Authorized Persons

The person picking up a child has to be the parent or guardian of the child, someone listed on the child’s carpool list, or a person authorized in writing or by email by the parent and must present a valid form of identification such as a driver’s license. Verbal authorizations over the phone are not acceptable.

B. Early Pick-Up

If you must pick up your child before the established dismissal time, you must sign your child out of school in the office by 2:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and no later than 1:30 PM on Wednesdays.

Drop-off Policy

Students may not be dropped off earlier than 7:30 AM. Students will be dismissed to their classrooms at 7:45 AM. Chapel will begin punctually at 8:00 am. Please keep in mind that chapel attendance time is mandatory.

Tardy Policy

Please make arrangements to arrive on time daily. School starts promptly at 8:00 AM, and is important that students are punctual as tardiness greatly impacts your child’s instructional time. Please note that 3 tardies will result in 1 absence as per our attendance policy.

Students must be picked from the carline at dismissal time. Students not picked up by their dismissal time will be sent to aftercare and a fee of $10/Hr will be assessed.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

BACK TO SCHOOL

• School Hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

• Students may be dropped off at the main entrance beginning at 7:30 AM

• Classes begin at 8:00 AM for all students

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP

Students participating in our after school program should be picked up at our front desk. After school hours are until 6:00 PM. See your campus for more information.

CAMPUS PARKING AREA

Parents may park in designated parking areas only and must have a parking decal. Vehicles that obstruct traffic or create an unsafe traffic flow are subject to being towed and will receive a parking violation.

STUDENT PLACEMENT

Middle and High School Student placement into classes will be based upon several factors. Students are placed based upon teacher recommendations, personal abilities, boy/girl ratios, educational, and emotional needs. The principal determines final class lists. All inquiries should be directed to the school administrator. Please make an appointment with the principal so that your concerns can be properly addressed.

All visitors on campus will be required to provide proper identification. High School Students will be provided with an Identification Card they must carry at all times while on campus.

Suspicious Activity Reporting App

The FortifyFL App, a third-party service, is available online and for download for both Android and Apple devices. This App allows students, parents and the community to submit tips regarding threats or suspicious activities to designated law enforcement officials.

Any tips submitted via FortifyFL are sent to law enforcement officials, and the designated officials are responsible for taking action on the tip.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Making a fake threat of violence is a criminal act that can land you in prison. It doesn't matter if you say it, text it, write it, snap it or post it on social media, students who make threats can face serious consequences. Even if it was meant to be a joke, calling in a fake threat of violence is a state crime in Florida, as well as a federal crime.

Every violent threat is taken seriously, because police don't know if a threat is real or fake. Each time a threat is made against one of our schools man hours and tax dollars are wasted searching the location, and the school day is disrupted. Fake threats can greatly affect absentee rates, and have a profound impact on a student's future.

DRESS CODE

DRESS CODE POLICY

All students must adhere to the established dress code policy. We ask that parents ensure students are properly dressed and observing the policy. Please see our website for a detailed description. School uniforms may be purchased online at www.olimacuniforms.com. Outerwear should be the CPCA blue cardigan, polo or sweater with the CPCA logo. NO OTHER JACKETS OR HOODIES WILL BE ALLOWED.

NEATNESS

Clothing must be clean, in good condition and properly sized.

HAIR AND JEWELRY

1. Boys and girls’ hair must not be long enough to obstruct vision in any way, and boys’ hair must be off the collar. All hair styles must be neat.

2. Modest jewelry, earrings and rings are permitted. Please do not wear any heirloom pieces or expensive jewelry to school.

3. Certain hair styles are not permitted. Example: no Mohawks, colored hair, etc. No bright or fantasy colors.

4. Piercings will not be allowed for boys. Stud earrings are permitted for girls only, no hoops or facial piercings.

Central Pointe Christian Academy focuses not only on competitively training athletes but also on forming the character and discipline young people need to demonstrate their best sports performance and academics. Central Pointe Christian Academy utilizes different methods to stay connected with students, parents, and our community.

CPCA LEARNING CENTER

The CPCA Learning Center provides personalized education for students with learning differences and documented exceptionalities. Our comprehensive teaching approach addresses the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and academic needs of our students in a safe and integrated learning environment. We offer small-sized classes with differentiated instruction, providing individualized attention and high levels of support. We serve students with specific learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, speech or language impairment, intellectual disabilities, and more. Our main objective is to develop the overall personality and skills of every student using multiple teaching methods based on their response. We also provide accommodations such as small group instruction, organizational assistance, clear routines and structure, and close supervision of activities. We believe in the positive impact of close parent/teacher/student relationships in promoting the full potential of each student.

i-Ready

i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help our teachers determine our student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year.

i-Ready allows our teachers to address the needs of our students, and provides data that our teacher use to increase our student learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction. Central Pointe Christian Academy utilizes the i-ready intervention program for all Kindergarten - 8th grade students during the school year.

ABEKA Christian Based Curriculum

All of our grades use the Abeka Curriculum. The subjects are covered through a workbook approach and include: phonics, reading, penmanship, math, science (including laboratory), language arts, history, and foreign languages. The Abeka teaching methods rely on the spiral teaching method, a proven and time-tested approach. Abeka promotes mastery of content, and enhancing critical thinking skills.

Ignitia

Ignitia is an online Christian platform that provides dynamic, Christ-centered lessons as well as interactive multimedia games, quizzes, for high school students. This platform is used as a tool for credit recovery to assist students with completing the necessary graduation credits.

Title I

CPCA is a Title 1 school that provides tutoring services to students from Kindergarten to 12th grade that meet the criteria specified by the Osceola School District. The goal of this program is to increase the academic level of students and reinforce reading and math skills.
