We are excited to share the results of this year’s The Best of Branson contest. Our contest is unique in that we ask the audience who they would like to nominate and then provide the opportunity to vote for who they think is the BEST in each category. This year, our top five voting categories were Female Vocalist, Pizza, Bar/Pub, Male Vocalist and Family Restaurant. Over the summer we had 602 nominations of individuals and companies hoping to be voted in the top two positions of 78 categories. The contest had nearly 100,000 votes cast this year. Star Bar Grill Branson boasts so many unique attributes, it’s difficult to know where to start. How about with the restaurant being voted by customers, locals and visitors as the Best Family Restaurant and having the Best Fried Catfish in Branson? A look at the history behind the restaurant shows how they have earned such accolades. It all started with one man: Jeff Shaver. He is known throughout the local area for his construction and excavation work, showcasing his quality and hard work. Known by family
members as Papa Jeff, at the restaurant, he is simply “boss man.” “Boss man” has brought his quality and hard work to the restaurant where every detail is taken seriously. Details abound from the moment customers walk in the door. At first it feels like an old warehouse, but the incredibly and uniquely designed restaurant is sure to wow guests from the moment they walk through the door. Shaver’s daughter Heidi Burch, who helps run the day to day operations explains that a lot of the recipes have come from family gatherings while growing up.

In addition, the family has been lucky enough to marry into other families with exceptional chefs who put their heart and soul into their passion for food. Star Bar Grill boasts an openkitchen concept that makes every meal memorable for guests. This truly lets every customer see the passion they have in preparing each and every plate that is served. This is a restaurant that takes its pledge to make every item in the place from scratch seriously. The breading on the award-winning “Cat-Ch Your Fish Platter” is a perfectly seasons batter that lightly crisps up giving you that perfect flake that does not disappoint. Star Bar is also known for several other menu items that set it apart, including the slow-smoked hand-cut prime rib. The meat is so tender it can be cut with a fork and is served with au jus made from the fat that dripped from the meat. This gives the entire meal the flavor intended. Other options include hand-cut Ribeye topped with compound butter and Reuben sandwiches
with perfectly cooked corned beef. Additionally, Star Bar offers a complete BBQ menu with all meats smoked up to 18 hours. Guests can also start of the day right with many breakfast options that go above and beyond grandmas cooking. Sausage gravy from scratch with huge fresh biscuits, “Bigger Than Life Pancakes,” Belgian waffles, and the local’s favorite hand-battered chicken fried steak are just some of the options you will find. For some, the famous “Country Boy Bloody Mary,” filled with all your favorite breakfast favorites is the perfect way to start a vacation. With a unique space both indoor and outdoor, it is no wonder Star Bar Grill was voted Best Family Restaurant.
