This year we had over 290,000 votes cast by 61,744 folks. That is three times the voter turnout from last year! This year’s top five vote categories were New Show, Comedian, Show Family, Comedy Show, and Male Vocalist. Voting was held from June 28, 2021, through September 8, 2021. Voters selected their favorites from over 1,012 individuals and businesses throughout 85 categories. We are awarding 140 individuals and businesses 170 awards, our largest contest in our four-year history. To be a winner in The Best of Branson is a true accomplishment. Star Bar Grill Branson has had to make several changes this past year to keep up with the dynamic of the marketplace, but the local family owned and operated restaurant is pleased Star Bar has not just survived the changing world, but has thrived in it. It has a smaller but mightier staff for starters, said Heidi Burch, who helps run day-to-day operations for her father, owner Jeff Shaver. “We’ve made a few changes to accommodate our smaller staff and still maintain our made-from-scratch meals, Heidi said. “It’s been difficult to keep up with the public’s expectation of our made-from-scratch food on such a large scale with a quarter of the staff we once had, but we’ve managed to figure out a way and we’re bringing it.” It all started with her father. He is known throughout the local area for his construction and excavation skills and showcasing his

quality and hard work. Family members call him Papa Jeff. At the restaurant, he is simply the “boss man.” “Boss man” has brought his quality and hard work to the restaurant where every detail is taken seriously. Details abound from the moment customers walk through the door. At first, it feels like an old warehouse, but the incredibly and uniquely designed restaurant impresses guests once they are seated. Burch explains that a lot of the recipes the restaurant uses have come from family gatherings she attended while growing up. In addition, the family has been lucky enough to marry into other families with exceptional chefs who put their heart and soul into their passion for food as well. Star Bar Grill boasts an openkitchen concept that makes every meal memorable for guests. This allows every

customer to see the passion the Star Bar kitchen staff has preparing each plate served. There have been some changes made to how the restaurant processes orders, but the staff is stronger now, Burch said. And many of the changes go unnoticed by customers because they are internal changes. “The entire staff is working as one cohesive team to provide fast, efficient and exceptional meals that come from our family to yours,” she said. This is a restaurant that takes its pledge to make every item in the place from scratch seriously. The breading on its award-winning “Cat-Ch Your Fish Platter” is a perfectly seasoned batter that lightly crisps up giving a perfect flake that does not disappoint. Star Bar is also known for other menu items that set it apart, including the slow-smoked hand-cut prime rib. The meat is so tender it can be cut with a fork, and it is served with au jus made from the fat that dripped from the meat. This gives the entire meal the flavor intended, a home-made umami taste that just can’t be matched many places. Other options include a flavorful hand-cut Ribeye topped with compound butter and Reuben sandwich with perfectly cooked corned beef. Additionally, Star Bar offers a complete BBQ menu with all meats

smoked up to 18 hours. Guests can also start off the day with many breakfast options that go above and beyond grandma’s cooking. Sausage gravy from scratch with huge fresh biscuits, “Bigger Than Life Pancakes,” Belgian waffles, and a local favorite, hand-battered chicken-fried steak are just some of the options on the menu. For some, the famous “Country Boy Bloody Mary,” filled with many breakfast favorites, is the perfect way to start a meal. With unique spaces both indoors and outdoors to complement the stellar food, it is no wonder Star Bar Grill was voted Best Family Restaurant. The outdoor space is a beautiful place for parents to enjoy their entire meal while letting the little ones burn off some energy. The staff offers pre-ordering, games for kids, and a children’s menu that is always made from scratch, too. Customers of Star Bar often come back three or four times during a vacation so they can be wowed by another made-from-scratch menu item. “Guests who eat with us become locals,” explained Burch. “We can’t wait to serve you and your family, and we’re truly honored to have been voted Best Family Restaurant and Best Fried Catfish in The Best of Branson magazine. We know there are a lot of choices when it comes to eating out, so we’re thrilled to win this award.”
