The clients of Enhanced Wellness know that they will walk away from treatment at the spa looking and feeling their best, and its team is passionate about helping them get there. With a special focus on weight loss, it is also the perfect place for hormone optimization and aesthetics.
“When clients return and say thank you or get excited about reaching a goal, that is what drives me to continue this journey, said Melanie Hall, nurse practitioner and owner of Enhanced Wellness. She believes that the key to one’s wellness is knowing where to start. And that start comes with a consultation with her or one of the other providers to discover the best plan to reach one’s wellness and weight loss goals.
Melanie herself is a native of the Wichita area and so much of the work she does has a personal stake. “Seeing people I know from high school, from previous jobs, and relationships gives me great pleasure to be able to help those in my community that I have a connection to.”
This comes as an added benefit when clients reach weight-loss stalls, or if the hormones they’re taking are not kicking in quickly enough. Some clients get frustrated at this. In a fast-paced society with instant gratification often at the ready, it is hard to swallow that losing 40 pounds in 30 days in a healthy manner is impossible. Keeping focus and motivation is challenging.
But Melanie and her fellow practitioners – Kate, Manisa, and Kenzie - are on hand to help clients maintain both, and the benefits are more than worth it.
“The most rewarding part of my job is seeing clients succeed. When a husband tells me thank you for giving him his wife back again, or a woman is excited about being able to fit into a new dress … The client’s success is my success.”
And lest anyone think the team at Enhanced Wellness does not know what it is like to be on their side of the treatment, they do. This only deepens the connection to their clients.
“I, too, was overweight and struggling to lose it,” Melanie said. “I used semaglutide and lost 80 pounds and have kept it off for the past two years. I can relate to clients’ struggles. I have also had my hormones
optimized, as a woman in her mid-40s. The symptoms of perimenopause are real!”
Those who have sought Enhanced Wellness’ care before know that the team is knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. Former patients report enhanced comfort and confidence after each visit.
The providers can relate to what their clients are experiencing and share their own struggles and successes with those they serve. From weight loss to fine lines, wrinkles, and saggy skin, they understand it all.
The experience of having gone through all of the procedures their spa offers also enables them to explain to patients what each feels like and what they can expect. In all things, the client’s comfort is prioritized, and the plan will only go ahead with their approval on each detail.
Enhanced Wellness believes everyone possesses natural beauty, but those natural beauties also often come with insecurities. Its treatments are designed to enhance the beauty that already exists while giving clients the confidence they need and deserve.

Dr. Larison started Wichita Primary Care in 2018 after seeking a better model of health care that allowed for longer patient appointments and integrated modalities such as nutrition, weight loss, behavioral health, hormone optimization, IV therapy and exercise alongside traditional medication management. This
innovative approach to health care has seen WPC grow from a single employee to a large multi-specialty clinic with 7,000 patients and 23 employees in just six years.
According to Larison, they are always looking for ways to innovate and provide more services that benefit their patients on their health care journey. They are a different type of medical clinic and couldn’t be prouder. Their practitioners don’t wear white coats, they have the Lord’s Prayer on their wall and they have a dressed-up dog in their waiting room. They strive to be more than just a family practice clinic or rehabilitation gym. They are a medical home.

Life has not been easy for the employees of WPC. Ask any of them about the challenges in their lives. Many of them are first generation college graduates or are first generation American s and none of their parents paid for their education. There are no silver spoons at WPC and it is because of this that Larison
states “My crew understands the value hard work and speak three languages. It takes all of us each day to make the machine work and they are all my family.”
They care for an underserved population of Kansans who are forgotten by many. 60% of patients have Medicare or Medicaid and many do not speak English. WPC gets no government subsidies to care for these patients but does so because WPC believes that all patients deserve the very best care. This is why they have on staff a physician, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, nutritionists, personal trainers, PA’s, ARNP’s, and an Army medic. Despite the financial challenges of running a small business their team provided 100,000 dollars in charity care last year to needy families in the community and Larison states that their commitment to giving has grown as their staff has multiplied.
WPC believes in educating patients so that they may achieve a higher standard for their health and for their lives. They believe in less pills and more exercise. They believe that our bodies can heal themselves with proper nutrition and rehabilitation. Wichita primary care aims to treat the mind, body, and spirit by meeting each patient where they are and tailoring a regimen that is more than just a prescription drug.
“What good is a weight loss drug if we don’t teach exercise? What good is a diabetic drug if we don’t teach nutrition? Our goal is to treat patients for their lifetime and to extend their journeys by offering a more comprehensive approach. We offer weight loss medications and hormone optimization without pricey memberships or hidden fees. We bill insurance for our services and work with patients to find affordable approaches to health care.”
When Larison was asked about her unique website and style she stated “I usually have fun color in my hair…and I won’t wear a white coat. When I am in the room with you I am your friend…and wearing a white coat to go see a friend is just plain weird. In my own scrubs I can hug you, laugh with you, and hold you when you cry.
“As for me, most days I have lip gloss in one pocket and dog treats in the other…it is blood, snot, and tears and I love it! I can promise that in the 25 years that I have been in health care I have never been prouder to be a part of the team that is Wichita Primary Care.”
Finding a store with clothing options suited to any occasion can be hard, but at K Lane’s & Co., women of all tastes and sizes can find the right outfit that will win them compliments far and wide. The selection includes jewelry, dresses, workwear, casual wear, shoes, and more.
With sizes between XS and 3XL, K Lane’s & Co. is the perfect outing for individuals or a group of shoppers.
“I want women to be able to make a girls’ day out of coming to K Lane’s & Co. So whether you are 25 or 85, I will have something for you. Bring your mom, sister, grandma, daughter, or best friend along,” said Taryn Taylor, the store’s general manager.
K Lane’s & Co. got its start in Anthony 32 years ago, and in 2006, its original owner Diana opened the Wichita location. When Taryn and her mother, Lisa Hambelton purchased the store in 2023, not only did they retain the bulk of its staff, but also the majority of the customer base.
Upon its reopening after sale in August 2023, the customer
base showed just how much they loved the boutique and all it has contributed to the community.
“We experienced record-breaking sales, and we have continued to break new records over and over ever since,” Taryn said. “In 2024, we are on track to have the best year in K Lane’s 32-year history by over 30%.”
Of the staff, Taryn expressed nothing but gratitude for their loyalty, and for her to be able to run the store with her mother.
“It has been so much fun to be able to have this experience together and to have her cheering me on every step of the way,” Taryn said. “Also, when we took over the store, we kept the manager on staff, Tawnya Anderson, who has been giving her heart and soul to this store for over ten years, as well as several staff members who have worked here for over five years.”
This highly experienced staff is more than capable of helping customers find clothing that helps them feel beautiful. They are honest
– if a woman tries on something that isn’t her best fit or color, the staff will gently let her know and find something to suit her better.
The goal is to not sell something that will just sit in a customer’s closet.
The staff wants to supply a new favorite outfit, something that will be used over and over and make its wearer feel her best.
This approach has proven fruitful in customer feedback.
“It has been so amazing to hear all the stories of women who were so sad when they thought K Lane’s was closing in 2023,” Taryn said. “So many have told me they were at a loss for where to shop moving forward and they were so excited when we stepped into Diana’s shoes. However, some were nervous that the store wouldn’t be as good or would be too different, and we have gotten so much wonderful feedback saying the store’s improvements have only added to the things have always loved about K Lane’s.”

Discussing self-care, especially during stressful times like the holidays, Wendi recommends making time for oneself because it’s important to de-stress. She sees how much clients gain from arriving at the spa early, getting comfy in a robe, leaving their phone in the locker room, and truly detaching from their day-to-day routine.

rooms dedicated to addressing individual hair needs with care and understanding,” said Wendi.

With 30% of its patients coming from outside the
Wichita metro area, Wesley’s impact extends well beyond the city, covering much of Kansas and Northern Oklahoma. As patient needs continue to grow, Wesley is dedicated to expanding and upgrading its programs and facilities. In fact, Bill estimates that, over the past decade, HCA Healthcare has invested more than $700 million into the community.
One such project was the creation of the region’s only dedicated pediatric hospital. Today, Wesley Children’s Hospital attracts patients from all over Kansas and Oklahoma with specialized services in more than 50 specialties, while its pediatric emergency room presents a less intimidating environment for the treatment of children with emergent conditions.
Over the past decade,
Wesley has continued to improve its facilities. Projects included a new orthopedic floor for patients undergoing orthopedic procedures such as joint replacement surgery, an updated labor and delivery floor, a dedicated oncology floor and many others. In addition, a complete remodel of Wesley Medical Center’s emergency department provided efficiencies that continue to help manage the growing number of patients who rely on Wesley for care.
Outside of Wesley’s main Hillside campus, the organization continues to expand is facilities and capabilities, first with a freestanding emergency room in Derby and now with a new emergency room in Andover, slated to open in March.
“We’re really excited to bring our services to surrounding
communities, as it allows for patients who might otherwise have to wait for transport to the main campus to be evaluated and stabilized almost immediately, which typically makes for better overall outcomes,” Bill said.
Wesley also opened a new, 41-bed rehabilitation center in October of this year. The center, designed with a variety of resources to help patients regain their strength and mobility after illness or injury.
“Wesley Rehabilitation Center is just one more way our organization continues to identify and meet the needs of our community,” Bill said.
