The Residence Inn Downtown at Capitol Park has a unique take on extended stay accommodations with its welcoming and homey atmosphere. Art is a significant feature of the Residence Inn largely due to its proximity to an array of museums that showcase the art, history, and culture of the capitol city and the state of California. The hotel building showcases the largest music mural in the state, portraying a prominent depiction of Johnny Cash by artist Shepard Fairey. This mural not only captured attention when it was painted during Wide Open Walls (Sacramento Mural Festival) in 2018 but also won the title of 2018 Best Music On Walls Mural.
Other Residence Inn art installations include a mural by local artist Anthony Padilla that welcomes visitors with vibrant colors and California Poppies at the hotel’s front entrance. There are other innovative artworks inside the hotel such as an abstract piece curated by Micah Crandall-Bear, which is the landscape of the lobby. There are also creations made entirely from stamps that depict the American River flowing through Sacramento.
The hotel additionally houses a striking wall of hand-blown glass from 2BGlass, based in Cameron Park, California, further emphasizing its dedication to local art and culture.
