Music Trip – A night at the Oscars

Saturday 8th March Sprocket Rocket Free Cycling Instructor Training Colin Neighbourhood Partnership is working in partnership with Glendale Cycling Club and DCAL to promote cycling in the Colin area. As part of this programme local people will be offered free training to deliver The Sprocket Rocket Programme which focuses on 4 main cycling skills; Cornering, Pedalling, Braking and Balance. We are delighted to offer this training for free, but apply quick as places are limited!

classroom work and practical outdoor experience. After the course you are fully qualified to deliver the Sprocket Rocket programme. The one day training course will be held at Cloona House on Saturday 8th March from 9.30am. Training is open to anyone aged 18 years and over. Once you have completed Sprocket Rocket training you can train youths aged 5 to 11 years old, although it can be delivered successfully to anyone of any age. The Sprocket Rocket Instructor’s Course is a 1 day course with a mix of

Monday 10th March Vincent Dargan Book launch - The Falls: the People, the Community, the Memories 3.00pm, Colin Library, Dairy Farm Shopping Centre, Stewartstown Road. Vincent Dargan is a street photographer from West Belfast. From the mid-1960s he took photographs of the local area, featuring his neighbours, the tradesmen, the shops, the houses – the ordinary people. The resulting collection – published in a book for the first time – is a fascinating record of this area of the city at a time of great change and conflict. Free admission, everyone welcome.

Go ON is an exciting support/training programme for people who want to find out more about technology and computers in a relaxed environment and at their own pace. Friday 14th March Creativity Day 2.00pm - 5.00pm, Dairy Farm Shopping Centre, Stewartstown Road. Come along for a fantastic display of creative talent! Bring along the kids for St Patrick’s themed arts and crafts. Receive a free bunch of locally grown shamrock from the Colin Allotments. Take part in a drumming circle and watch authentic African dance and drum performances. Watch the full Ulster Orchestra perform in the Dairy Farm mall, bound to be a unique experience! Free event, open to all.

Tuesday 25th March – Saturday 29th March ‘I Never See the Prettiest Thing’ Brook Activity Centre, Twinbrook Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and Partisan Productions present a powerful new drama exploring the causes and consequences of suicide. An engaging, challenging and positive exploration of a difficult and sensitive subject, I Never See the Prettiest Thing is based on an intensive research process involving individuals, families and community groups in the Colin area and beyond. A lively and engaging production, including original songs and music, the show offers a window into a social, cultural and moral environment in which a choice for suicide can become the first option in dealing with life’s difficulties. Sometimes shocking, often moving, I Never See the Prettiest Thing underlines the value and potential of individual life, and powerfully demonstrates the impact on family, friends and community of any decision to end it. Join renowned historian Eamon Phoenix on a tour of Presbyterian and United Irish history. We will travel from the historical sites in Colin and Dunmurry to the battlefields of County Down. Saturday 29th March Dinosaur Zoo at Grand Opera House Bus departs Dairy Farm at 12.30pm. Observe and interact with these extraordinary life-like dinosaurs in this entertaining and highly imaginative live show. But watch out – not all of these ravenous reptiles are as tame as they seem!
