WONDER PARK
THE LEGO MOVIE 2
FRIDAY 22 NOVEMBER @ 10AM
VENUE: BRUNSWICK MOVIEBOWL SUITABLE FOR: KEY STAGES 2 AREAS OF LEARNING: PDMU / WAU / COMMUNICATION / LANGUAGE & LITERACY THEMES: FAMILY / THE POWER OF IMAGINATION & CREATIVITY / DEALING WITH ILLNESS / GRIEF / SADNESS USA/Spain.2019. Cast: Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner, Mila Kunis, Brianna Denski, Tom Baker, Sofia Mali, Ken Hudson Campbell, Norbert Leo Butz, John Oliver. Duration: 1hr.25mins. Cert: PG Distributor: Paramount Pictures June is a young girl with a very vivid imagination. Each night at bedtime, June4 and her mother bond while exploring new additions to “Wonderland” - a magical theme park they have invented. Wonderland is an amazing place, consisting of towering roller coasters and hair rising rides and populated by adorable talking animals. Wonderland is too good to be true since it springs from the fertile creativity of schoolgirl June and her adoring mother. So, when the latter is hospitalised, the park begins to fall apart at the seams, too. As June begins to draw on her own inner resilience, the grown-up audience may spot echoes of both Studio Ghibli's My Neighbour Totoro and Pixar's Inside Out, though younger viewers may not grasp that the whole movie's actually a metaphor for coping with cancer. Still, the assured animation provides lots of exciting action. 6
“Wonder Park is a complicated yet imaginative story that may help kids cope with hard times… To find a movie with a purpose beyond entertainment is rare these days. For once, this is a message valuable to viewers without a political song and dance.” Adrina Palmer, Irish Film Critic

Director: Todd Douglas Miller. Cast: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins, Joan Ann Archer, Janet Armstrong. Duration: 1hr.33mins. Cert: U Distributor: Dogwoof Pictures "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Astronaut Neil Armstrong spoke those words as roughly six hundred million people watched on television when he became the first person to set foot on the moon. Armstrong’s step marked the culmination of a remarkable political and scientific effort. On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy asked Congress to commit to putting a man on the moon by the end of the decade. At the time, the United States had launched just one manned space flight, a suborbital mission with Alan Shepard that lasted only 15 minutes. Seven-and-a-half years later, Apollo 8 became the first manned spacecraft to circle the moon.
18
When Apollo-11 launched from Cape Canaveral on July 16, 1969 with Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on-board, it had one objective: “Perform a manned lunar landing and return.” Armstrong and Aldrin spent twenty-one hours and thirty minutes on the moon. Collins, meanwhile, remained on-board Apollo 11, becoming the first person to orbit the far side of the moon alone, cut off from all human contact. The moon landing effectively ended the “Space Race,” which began twelve years earlier when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik-1.
