Welcome to the Travelworld Spring Newsletter Wow! Where did winter go? Although I must admit I’m not sad to say goodbye and welcome in the spring. I really enjoy watching the daffodils arrive, listening to the birds singing and seeing the spring lambs leaping around the fields.

Travelworld had a great start to the year, extremely busy in both offices. Yvonne and Marie joined our Northern Lights trip at the end of January, a fabulous 3-night break to Finland from Exeter. You’ll find wonderful photos on our Facebook pages of the group in the Winter wonderland, petting reindeer, mushing huskies and amazing photos of the Northern Lights. We are running the same trip next year; the full details are in this newsletter.

I am very excited to announce we have a special departure travelling to India in March 2020. We have an exclusive offer on “Inspiring India” with Wendy Wu Tours and we will be including executive return transfers from your home in East Devon to London. Further details can be found on page 3.

I am pleased to introduce my daughter “Freya”, as a new member of the team. She already fits in so well and will be working between both offices. Freya has been very lucky to have travelled extensively and is looking forward to helping you plan your future holidays.

On a personal note, I am currently off of work recovering from an ankle replacement, I’m pleased to say that the operation went well, and I am now just itching to get back to work.

Hello, I’m Freya. I am the ‘new’ girl here at Travelworld.

I have only just started on my travel career, but travel has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As my mum is Hannah who owns the business. Talk about keeping it in the family, Haha! I have been very fortunate to travel to some fantastic places. One of the best would have to be skiing! I have skied since I was 4 and the novelty has still not worn off. Austria is my favourite place and will always hold a massive piece of my heart, however I would love to ski in Canada.

I am very family orientated and enjoy my holiday with the whole family. I now have a 1-year old little boy named Albert and can’t wait to start showing him the world. But more importantly take him skiing.

I look forward to meeting you all in the future.

Julie visits Lapland Julie from Sidmouth was lucky enough to join Inghams Santa Breaks on a 3-day trip to Lapland.

During the 3 night stay we spent half a day at Santa’s village where we were lucky enough to meet Santa himself and had great fun making gingerbread biscuits, sledging and cooking sausages and keeping warm over an open fire.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Optional excursions include snowmobiling and husky and reindeer rides. I had the chance to ski which was magical and unique as was on floodlit slopes as it was completely dark by 3pm.

Short days and a blanket of snow gave a magical Christmas atmosphere everywhere with late and long pink sunrises and early amazing golden sunsets. I can highly recommend a trip to Lapland for the whole family as a fantastic way to truly get you into the Christmas spirit.

Yvonne explores Vietnam & Cambodia I have recently returned from a Titan Tours trip to Vietnam & Cambodia and think I have fallen in love with a new destination – South East Asia!!

Our journey began in the Northern city of Hanoi, which was really interesting introduction to Vietnam. We enjoyed visits to Temples, Museums and got to grips with the local food, which is light and delicious. Our adventure continued to Halong Bay where we had a fantastic cruise within the limestone mountains of this stunning bay – a true bucket list item! We then visited the beautiful little town of Hoi An, where come night fall the town is alight with a huge array of pretty Chinese lanterns.

Onwards to Saigon, where we enjoyed a day cruise on the Mekong Delta and spent some time at the Cu Chi Tunnels which was truly fascinating, and went shopping in Ben Than Market, which was a huge eye opener!!

We then flew on to Cambodia, where we visited Angkor Wat at sunrise, a real highlight for me! We then spent the following day amongst the villagers in a stilt village on Tonle Sap lake –an experience I will never forget.

Marie from Sidmouth was very lucky to be able to travel to Lapland recently in search of the mystical northern lights with Transun Holidays.

We stayed at the Davvi Arctic lodge.

There are cosy hotel rooms as well as cabins scattered nearby. The bar and restaurant are in the main lodge, together with some lounge areas. The food in the restaurant is hot, wholesome and tasty with a good choice at each meal. There was always a vegetarian option too.

There are excursions included in the holiday cost - Reindeer Camp and Sleigh Safari. The Northern Lights Forest Trek, The Call of the Wild Husky Safari and the Northern Lights Snow Mobile Safari, we were all very lucky to see the Aurora, on our last night. This trip has a full, well organised programme.

I can’t recommend the Transun Northern Lights trip enough and I look forward to returning to this winter wonderland soon.
