Happy New Year to all and I do hope that the festive season has been enjoyed. As usual, the travel industry faced countless challenges in 2019, some predicted and some not, but I do not want to dwell on any of the negative aspects that arose. I have some very positive items of news from last year, many in respect of new staff. 2018 had seen the retirement of three members of my team and this left a ‘hole’ in three out of four of my offices. However, as they say, as one door closes another opens and I have been delighted to welcome to the team new and experienced staff. The only change regarding staffing that is predicted for 2020 is in respect of the Elmswell shop. I am delighted to share with you that Hannah Moore, the Manager, will be taking some time out on maternity leave as her first baby is due in March. We all wish her and Kelvin well with their forthcoming sleepless nights ……………………….! In July I was delighted to receive the Travel Agent of the Year (East Of England) award, on behalf of the Claydon office, at the Agent Achievement Awards in London. The company has achieved many awards, and continues to do so, due to the strength of my team and for this, I am very grateful. It always makes me happy when their hard work and efforts are recognised.

Service is not expensive, it is invaluable …… Whenever I travel myself and I receive ‘over and above’ service, I endeavour to deliver the same in my offices. I remember once being told the following: ’You may not remember who said it, or even what was said, but you will always remember the way it made you feel’. During a recent trip to China, I experienced some of the best service I have ever received …... and also some of the worst! But at least this allows me to recognise what it is we want to achieve as well as what we want to avoid at all costs. Travel Stop’s aim is to ensure that we deliver the best experience possible from the first meeting, call or email, right the way through to your return from holiday and beyond. That is my personal pledge to each and every one of our customers. We work with so very many tour operators, but especially enjoy our relationships with the niche market and specialist travel providers. A lot of these may initially look the same as many of the mass market holiday companies but, in reality, are quite simply poles apart offering quite unique holiday experiences. Whist chatting to one representative who visited our offices recently, it was emphasised that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ holiday and no off-the-shelf itinerary that they feature. What they guarantee is that a customer will get the best possible advice at the planning stage, unique experiences that won’t be found anywhere else, first-hand hotel recommendations and, ultimately, a holiday that is remarkable in the eyes of the traveller. This mirrors exactly what we want to ensure we deliver. We want to demonstrate how your ideas could come to life, based around starting points and conversations, and planning an individual holiday that will excite. Therefore when we work with operators who have the same aspirations as ourselves, we believe we will get it right, ultimately for you as our customer. Once again this year you will read about many of our staff’s travel experiences. I am a true believer that selling holidays is being passionate about what we sell and knowing what we are talking about. Therefore each time an opportunity is presented, or an invitation is received, I encourage it’s acceptance. As a result, most of the team have taken advantage of some fantastic travel experiences which I hope that, not only will you enjoy reading about, but you will use their experiences to help with your own plans. In frantic and fast moving times, it is all too easy to overlook common courtesies. I genuinely appreciate your custom and you may rest assured that I will never take for granted, or indeed become complacent. At Travel Stop I am aware that you have a choice and am grateful that you give us your business. Thank you for your continued custom and loyalty and I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020. With very best wishes
