INTRODUCTION YEAR 2014 IN REVIEW The successful introduction of the Netherlands Film Production Incentive and the Netherlands Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival were the most defining aspects of the Dutch film year 2014.

€22.3 million in cash rebates: 71 features, 19 documentaries and 2 animated films. This investment relates to a total Dutch spend of €108 million. 59 projects were made as international co-productions.

In 2014 39 Dutch feature films were selected for one of the major international film festivals. The total number of Dutch selections across all international film festivals rose from 1.716 in 2013 to 1.878 in 2014. This led to the award of 168 prizes, a slight increase on the previous year.

In addition, the Netherlands Film Commission had a successful first year with numerous international producers expressing their interest in producing with or within the Netherlands. The increased internationalization of the Dutch film industry is clearly demonstrated by the 59 co-productions mentioned above, as well as Dutch minority co-production activity that has tripled over the last three years (see 1.2).

With 6.4 million admissions the domestic market share in the Netherlands rose slightly from 20.6% to 20.9% in 2014. During the year 66 feature films, 22 feature length documentaries, 8 short animations, 22 experimental films and 9 Fund supported shorts were shot. The total production activity increased with almost 40% compared to the previous year to € 133,291,000. The Netherlands Film Production Incentive was launched June 2014. A year later it can boast significant results. 92 projects were granted
