Township of Uxbridge to Host Building Business Forum

Local entrepreneurs and business owners have the opportunity to network with and learn from of north Durham’s leading business people at the 5th annual Building Business Forum. The half day conference is designed to inspire and support entrepreneurship while helping local businesses to make strategic connections and find new business development resources. The goal of the event is to help build a stronger rural economy and healthy business environment throughout North Durham.

This year, the event is hosted by Township of Uxbridge at St. Paul’s Church in Leaskdale. It is taking place on Friday October 21st at 8:00 am. The theme of the event is “Growing Beyond Your Borders”.

Growing beyond your borders can be different for every business or entrepreneur. It does not necessarily refer to physical borders but rather how to expand a business into new avenues and overcome challenges that may be inhibiting business.

“We hope that we can encourage people to start companies or grow their business by listening to local success stories and showcasing successful businesses”, says Nancy Rutherford, Manager, Economic Development at Region of Durham one of the forum coordinators. “We know that when we bring local entrepreneurs and business people together exciting ideas are generated. The connections people make when networking really help support them with their day-to-day business decisions.”

The north Durham Building Business Forum is a partnership between the Economic Development Advisory Committees of the Townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge. These committees work with township and Durham Region staff on economic development activities for north Durham.
