ABOUT NTARUPT AND TAID Ntarupt (The North Texas Alliance to Reduce Unintended Pregnancy in Teens), with funding provided by The City of Dallas, The United Way Ground Floor, and various private and public donations. Ntarupt is the sole organization in North Texas committed to bringing together community resources for both parents and teens with a focus on teen pregnancy prevention and sexual and reproductive health, which it has been doing since its inception in 2014. Ntarupt also builds capacity within other organizations through technical assistance and trainings, including “Askable Adults”, which teaches participants how to be a trusted adult and provide relevant resources to teens who are in their lives.
Talk About It Dallas, an initiative from Ntarupt, is a judgementfree resource for reducing unintended teen pregnancies in Dallas. They’re here to help teens and parents find ways to: + Normalize conversations about sexual health + Raise awareness about the scale and longterm impact of teen pregnancy in Dallas + Provide medically-accurate reproductive health information + Guide the community to find safe, accessible, and affordable resources + Promote positive sexual health habits among teens

ABOUT THE EVENT More than 50 teens, supporters, city leaders are expected to attend Ntarupt’s, the North Texas Alliance to Reduce Teen Pregnancy’s, will premiere short films produced and edited by Dallas High School Students on “what you wish an adult would have told you about sex.” The premiere will be preceded by a red carpet entrance for actors, teens and supporters, and followed by a panel discussion emceed by Dallas International Film Festival Artistic Director James Faust with a local teen, one of the film’s actors, and Ntarupt’s program director. This year, Ntarupt’s Community Advocate Award to Gary Ahr and honoring Dallas’ Lincoln Humanities and Communications Magnet. The event and fundraiser will be held on February 9th at the Wyly Theater at 3 PM. The top winner will receive a scholarship and the 1st prize winner will also win an additional $500 towards their Schools Department. The 5th Annual Student Film Competition is the next phase of Talk About It Dallas, the provocative campaign Ntarupt launched in February to address the alarming Dallas teen birth rate. The campaign aims to change attitudes and behaviors of teens parents and the general public about teen pregnancy to ultimately reduce Dallas County’s teen birth rate by 50% by 2022 in Dallas County’s 12 zip codes with the highest teen birth rates.

Teen Pregnancy Stats In 2016, Texas ranked 4th in the U.S. in teen births and 1st in repeat teen births. Of the 20 largest counties in the U.S., Dallas has the highest teen birth rate. In Texas, Dallas County has the highest teen birth rate of any major Texas county. Dallas zip codes having high child poverty also have high teen birth rates. Every three hours, a baby is born to a Dallas teen mom, which in 2016 amounted to 3,059 teen births in Dallas County – enough to fill 140 kindergarten classes.
