SISTER ESTHER ANDERSON, OSF,
is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia and served as Congregational Minister and president of the Sisters of St. Francis Corporation from 2008 through 2014. During those years, she was also president of the board of members of Neumann University. She currently ministers as a consultant and facilitator for religious congregations and other groups. Previously, she was a trustee of Neumann University from 1996-2002 and again from 2003-2008. In addition, she chaired the academic affairs committee, and was a member of the trustee and the strategic planning committees. Sister Esther has extensive experience in congregational leadership, sponsorship of various ministries, education, and healthcare governance. She served on the general council of her congregation as vice president of the Sisters of St. Francis Corporation from 1996-2002. From 1985-1993, she served as Provincial Minister of the Western Province Prior to that time, she was involved in teaching and school administration. Sister Esther served on the board of stewardship trustees of Catholic Health Initiatives, a national health care system, from 1996-2006, and was chair of the board for three years. She was chair of Franciscan Health System from 19931996 and served on the steering council that consolidated that system with two other national systems. She has served on the board of members of Drexel Neumann Academy in Chester, Pennsylvania, and Transitions, a ministry to eradicate homelessness in Spokane, Washington. Currently, she sits on the board of First Initiatives Insurance Limited and is her congregation’s representative to Catholic Health Initiatives. Sister earned her B.A. in social studies and education from Marylhurst University, Oregon, her M.A. in teaching from Lewis and Clark College in Oregon, an M.A. in religious studies from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and development from the Union institute and University in Ohio. Sister Esther has made numerous presentations locally, regionally, and nationally on topics related to religious life, sponsorship of ministries, healthcare governance, and education.
ANN BAIADA, RN, CRRN-Retired, is vice chairperson of the board and chairperson of the strategic planning committee. Her unwavering commitment to clinical excellence motivated her to create Project White Cap, a training program for new nurses and Project White Shoes, annual training for clinical leaders, both at BAYADA Home Health Care. Baiada’s business savvy has helped grow the company and has been recognized with such honors as the Best 50 Women in Business award from NJBiz in 2010. A skilled clinical leader, Baiada founded BayadAbility, the company's rehabilitation nursing program in 1988. Her passion for nursing and her ability to empower and inspire, led to the establishment of an award in her honor, the Ann Baiada Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership and the development of the Ann Baiada Center for Clinical Excellence. The Institute for Nursing in New Jersey honored Baiada for her extraordinary contributions to nursing and the advancement of health care in New Jersey with its Diva in Nursing award. Baiada supports many local organizations, including Mercy Vocational High School in Philadelphia, PA; Sacred Heart School in Camden, NJ; Providence House in Burlington and Ocean counties in NJ; and Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, NJ. She is a past co-chair of the University of the Arts Parents Council, Philadelphia, PA; a current member and past president of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses in Greater Philadelphia, PA; and a member of the New Jersey State Nurses Association. She is also actively involved in the BAYADA Regatta, an adaptive-rowing event in Philadelphia. She has been recognized with various honors, including the Hall of Fame Award from Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing; the VNA Caring Award from the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia; the Richard J. Hughes Humanitarian Award from Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton; and the Light of Hope Award from Catholic Charities. Baiada earned her certification in rehabilitation nursing from the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and her RN degree from Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She is the recipient of an honorary doctor of laws degree from Neumann University and a doctor of humane letters from Drexel University. She and her husband, Mark, reside in Moorestown, NJ. They have five children and nine grandchildren.
M O NSI GN O R FEDERICO A. BRITTO ’05, chairs the student affairs
committee. He is the pastor of St. Cyprian Parish in Southwest Philadelphia. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Monsignor Britto was ordained to the priesthood of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1982. His interests beyond his parish include issues of cultural diversity and Catholic lay leadership. As vice president and president of the National Black Catholic Seminarians Association, and as a member of the coordinating committee for the National Black Catholic Congress, he has demonstrated impressive leadership for African Americans nationwide. Monsignor Britto served with the National Conference for Christians and Jews and was vice chairperson for the Interfaith Council for the United Negro College Fund for the Philadelphia region. He is chaplain for the Knights of (St.) Peter Claver and its Ladies Auxiliary, chaplain to the Knights of Columbus, St. Benedict the Moore Council, and chaplain to the Knights of St. John International. Monsignor Britto was vocation director for the African American Apostolate for Philadelphia, and confessor for the students at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia. He is also an adjunct professor at St. Charles Seminary religious studies division. Monsignor Britto received an M.A. in theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, an M.S. in strategic leadership from Neumann University, and holds a B.A. in philosophy. He also serves as a trustee on several boards in and around the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. THOMAS A. BRUDER, JR., has served
on the Neumann University Board of Trustees since 1971, and continues to serve as a member with an unlimited term. He is a former member of the development committee and is currently a member of the trustee committee. He was the owner of M.A. Bruder Paints and retired from the presidency of M.A. Bruder & Sons, Inc. in 2007. Involved in various community and Catholic activities, Bruder is a member of the Riddle Hospital board of directors and also serves on the board of Main Line Health. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Neumann University.
Among the visible evidences of the Bruder family’s generosity are the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center, the Thomas A. and Mary A. Bruder Athletic Center and the Thomas A. Bruder Athletic Fields. He and his wife, Kathleen, reside in Newtown Square, PA. RENOLD J. CAPOCASALE, serves on the academic affairs committee. CEO and founder of FlowMetric Inc., Capocasale has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development. He is an expert in polychromatic flow cytometry, cell sorting and immunology-based assay development. Prior to establishing FlowMetric, he worked for over 13 years at Centocor, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson. He established the polychromatic flow facility at Centocor to perform polychromatic flow cytometry and cell sorting. His work at Centocor earned him five prestigious Johnson & Johnson awards for scientific excellence and innovation. He has worked on marketed compounds, Remicade® and Stelara®. Capocasale has authored more than 30 peer reviewed scientific manuscripts and publications. He is co-author of one U.S. Patent and has been invited to speak at International Conferences. He has also co-authored a chapter on the “Application of Flow Cytometry in Drug Development” for Immunotoxicology Strategies for Pharmaceutical Safety Assessment, published by John Wiley & Sons in August 2008. Capocasale earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University. He is also a board member of iPraxis, a not-for-profit educational institution focused on science and technology education and an adjunct professor at Drexel University College of Medicine. TERESA (Terry) COFFEY ‘83 ‘96,
serves on the development committee. She worked as the head nurse at Quadrangle Senior Living in Haverford, PA. Prior to this position, she was the supervisor of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Philadelphia General Hospital and an ICU nurse at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY. She also previously worked at Presbyterian/University of Pennsylvania Hospital and Beaumont Senior Living. While raising her three children, Coffey continued continued on next page
her education by concentrating on the theological, philosophical and cultural aspects of humanity. Her advanced education centered on the psychological/spiritual aspects of the individual person. Although she is most proud of her accomplishments as a wife and mother, Coffey feels her education and life experiences have influenced much of her thinking. Her belief in the concept of body, mind and spirit has fueled her desire to honor and encourage others in their personal quest of wellness. Coffey is the recipient of the 2000 John Neumann Award and serves on the Scholarship Gala committee. She holds a nursing degree from Philadelphia General Hospital, and a B.A. in humanities and a M.A. in counseling from Neumann University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She and her husband, Joseph, reside in Radnor. JAMES D. DELANEY is chairperson
of the board, chairperson of the finance committee and serves on the trustee committee. He is the retired co-founder of J.G. Wentworth & Company, Inc., a specialty finance company and the largest originator of deferred payment obligations in the U.S. Throughout his 30-plus-year career, he held several positions with healthcare institutions, including Philadelphia Blue Cross and Hahnemann University. In 1980, Delaney co-founded and served as president of Delaney Associates, a healthcare consulting firm. In 1984, he purchased Hospital Support Services, Inc., a multi-service healthcare delivery company where he served as president of the home care and ambulance divisions. After both divisions were acquired by local hospitals, he co-founded KDL Technologies, Inc., a medical instruments company. Delaney also co-founded Medical Management Resources, Inc., a physician billing company and Maximum Claims Services, Inc., a third-party electronic outpatient billing and collection service. Both firms were subsequently sold and Delaney joined Advacare, Inc., as president of the diagnostic division and principal stockholder. He has served as a board/committee member of numerous organizations, including the Stewards of St. John Neumann, The Papal Foundation, the National Catholic Community Foundation, the Irish Chamber of Commerce,
Hahnemann Orthopedics Institute and St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He is also a lector, bible study leader and Eucharistic minister at St. John Vianney Parish. Delaney earned both a B.S. in accounting and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University, and M.S. in taxation from Widener University. He resides with his wife, Jacqueline, in Malvern, PA. DEACON DANIEL N. DELUCCA, PD.D.,
serves on the strategic planning and trustee committees. He has been a Neumann University board member for 12 years, and served as chairperson of the audit committee, and a member of the trustee committee. He is president emeritus of Alvernia University in Reading, PA, where he served for seven years. Prior to Alvernia, he was president at Spring Garden College for 13 years and served at Saint Joseph’s University for 22 years in a variety of positions, including faculty member, department chairman, assistant to the president and vice president. Currently an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s in the MBA program, which he established, he received an Excellence in Teaching Award and serves on the University’s Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics advisory board. A pioneer on the subject of business ethics, he authored the Freedoms Foundation Award publication, Business Social Responsibility. Deacon DeLucca is a past board member of Malvern Retreat House, Bonner/Prendergast High School and Holy Child Academy, where he continues to serve on the School Life committee. He has produced and moderated radio and television shows, is the Lindback Award recipient for distinguished teaching and was awarded the Rev. Joseph S. Hogan, S.J. award of the Saint Joseph’s University Alumni Association. Ordained a permanent deacon in 1986 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Deacon DeLuccca serves at Saint Andrew the Apostle parish in Drexel Hill. In 2003, he was awarded the Papal Honor Of The Cross, Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice. In addition, he has served the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as the Clergy Coordinator for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs for the Delaware County Vicariate, an auditor for the Metropolitan Tribunal, a member of the Planning Commission and Delegate of the Synod for the Tenth Archdiocesan Synod, and as an Adjunct Professor of Homiletics at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. continued on next page
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Bonaventure University, an MBA from New York University, an honorary doctor of humane letters from Saint Joseph’s University, an honorary doctor of pedagogy from Saint Bonaventure University, and an honorary doctor of laws from Neumann University. A native of Hazleton, PA, he is married to Margaret Quinn. They have four sons, two grandsons and seven granddaughters. JAY DEVINE is a member of the
trustee committee, chairs the audit committee and served as chairperson of Neumann's board of trustees from 2002 to 2012. He founded Devine + Partners, a leading strategic communications firm in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2003 and currently serves as the firm’s President/CEO. He is an experienced communications counselor with more than 25 years of experience advising international, national and Washington, D.C., clients. Until co-founding the firm in 2003, he was the general manager of Tierney Communications, where he had management responsibilities for Philadelphia’s largest public relations agency. He joined Tierney in 1989 as one of its founding members. Devine is a graduate of Georgetown University. He is an affiliate board member of the National Adoption Center, and a board member of the Philadelphia Charity Ball, the Brent Celek Take Flight Foundation and Greener Partners. In May 2013, he and his wife, Bridget, were awarded an honorary degree from Neumann University. He and Bridget reside with their two children in Strafford, PA. SISTER MARY FARRELL, OSF
'85,
serves on the student affairs committee. She is the former principal of St. Francis de Sales School in Lenni, PA, and is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. She previously served as assistant principal of Corpus Christi School in Wilmington, DE, and as a teacher at Father Charles Hall Middle School and St. Catherine Catholic School in Baltimore, MD. During her 31 years in Catholic education, she held several positions
for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, including coordinator of the Induction Committee, secretary for District 10 principals and executive board member for the Elementary Administrators Association. Sister Mary Farrell has been recognized with the Distinguished Principal Award from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the St. John Neumann Alumni Award from Neumann University. She earned her B.A. in religious studies from Neumann and her M.S. in instructional leadership from Boston College. She resides in Aston, PA JOHN C. FORD is a member of
the development committee. After serving on Neumann’s development committee as a non-board member, Ford filled an unexpired board term from 1993-95 serving on the development committee and then as board chair. He completed his first full term from 1996-99 as an executive committee member. He is the principal of John C. Ford Associates, a consulting firm specializing in organizational development and communications. His practice includes seminar development, delivery and executive coaching. He writes and speaks extensively on management and leadership topics Ford began his career in financial services with positions at the American Stock Exchange and Merrill Lynch and Company. He then transferred his focus to broadcasting and cable, where he had senior human resources responsibilities at CBS, Inc. (establishing its award-winning School of Management), ABC, and the Home Box Office division of Time Warner. He serves on the adjunct faculty of the Harvard Business School as a moderator for its Leadership Direct programs. He serves on a number of boards, including his parish council, and is a facilitator for Protecting God’s Children, the safe harbor program for the Archdiocese of New York. Also a parish lector and cantor, he is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. He and his wife, Dr. Sandra Sollod Poster, reside in New York City.
REGINA HANEY, Ed.D. ‘72 serves on the academic affairs committee. She is the executive director of the Department of Boards and Councils of Catholic Education at the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA). In this capacity, she shares her experience with school and diocesan boards across the country through workshops, research and publications. She is co-author with John Convey of Benchmarks of Excellence: A Research Project on Effective Boards of Catholic Education. Prior to joining NCEA in 1990, Haney served for nine years as the superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Raleigh, NC. Among her achievements as superintendent, she counts the revision and implementation of a system-wide accreditation plan, several publications, including CRE-ACTION, a “hands-on” science guide for all grade levels, and the establishment of a network of curriculum coordinators. A resident of Alexandria, VA, she received her doctorate from St. Mary’s University, Winona, MN, in 2004.
SISTER ELIZABETH HOWE, OSF, M.D., FACEP, ’76, serves on the student
affairs committee. An emergency physician with St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA, she was previously the director of the department of emergency medicine at St. Joseph. In addition, she is a former faculty member of Penn State University at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. Sister Elizabeth Howe has done medical mission work in the Philippines and Haiti. She is the recipient of the St. John Neumann Alumni Award from Neumann University, and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and Oley Valley Combined Training Association. In addition to numerous presentations, Sister Elizabeth Howe is also the author of several medical publications. Sister earned her B.S. in nursing from Our Lady of Angels in 1976 and her M.D. in 1993 from Georgetown University. She resides in Reading, PA.
FRANK J. JANTON has served as the chairperson of the development committee since 2007. He is former president of F.J. Janton Company, founded in 1970, which specializes in consulting and implementing direct, non-profit and permit mailings. Janton spent his early career in pharmaceutical sales for Wyeth Laboratories and as a hospital representative for Baxter/Travenol where he was promoted to a national sales trainer. Active in several philanthropic endeavors for many community organizations, he is a member of the Kennett Education Foundation and the American Catholic Historical Society. He also served on the presidential advisory committee for Salesianum School in Delaware from 1980 to 1998. Janton is a life member of the Union League of Philadelphia and has served on various promotional committees since 1993. A former president of the Knoxlyn Farm Homeowners Association, he also served as the chairman of the architectural review committee. A stsrong supporter of the Delaware County Symphony, he is the founder of its “Musicians Lifetime Achievement Award.” Every year since 2002 he has presented this award at the Orchestra’s final concert of the season. Janton holds a B.S. from St. Joseph’s University and lives in Kennett Township, PA, with his wife, Marie. MICHAEL L. KRANCER, ESQ.,
serves on the academic affairs committee. A partner with Blank Rome LLP, he is an experienced policy and substantive thought leader in energy development and deployment. With over 20 years of energy industry and public policy experience, he is a valued advisor to U.S. and global energy companies of all types regarding the full range of legal, public policy, government relations, state and federal regulatory, financial, corporate, and labor matters. Prior to rejoining Blank Rome, Krancer served as Secretary of the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under Governor Tom Corbett. During his tenure, he oversaw the environmentally responsible development of shale natural gas in PA, and was a key member of the Governor’s team that attracted new and environmentally continued on next page
sensitive economic development to the Commonwealth. A litigation partner with Blank Rome from 1992 to 1999, he also served as Judge and Chief Judge and chairman of PA’s Environmental Hearing Board (EHB), and was Assistant General Counsel to Exelon Corporation, one of the nation’s largest competitive energy providers, where he was responsible for environmental health and safety matters, energy policy development and government relations. As a prominent and popular speaker and writer, Krancer is widely recognized for his practical thought leadership on a wide range of energy policy issues. He serves on the board of directors of Inn Dwelling, a nonprofit, faith-based initiative associated with St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia, whose mission is capacity-building among disadvantaged families in the Germantown and Northeast sections of Philadelphia. He also served on the board and as vice president of the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, PA. An avid student of Hebrew and Christian Biblical Canon, Krancer has pursued coursework in theology and biblical studies and exegesis at Villanova University. He is a member of the U. S. Naval Institute and is a Civil War re-enactor being a proud Private of the 20th Maine Volunteers, Company E (Army of the Potomac, Fifth Corps, First Division, Vincent’s Brigade). Krancer resides in Bryn Mawr, PA, with his wife, Barbara, and their four children. SALVATORE J. MATTERA ‘07 ‘09
is a finance committee member. He is vice president of store operations for Wawa, Inc. and is responsible for working with the nine regions of operations in all six states. A Wawa employee for more than 37 years, he started his career as a part-time associate. He previously held the positions of senior director of store operations services, director of store effectiveness, and director of store operations. Mattera has worked with numerous cross-functional teams including the Coffee Unplugged Project, store labor redesign, start-up of the NJDC, foodservice efficiency redesign, store-of-the-future, and the blueprint phase of Wawa SAP start-up. The Wawa corporate chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and co-chair for the National Adoption Center (NAC), he served as a member
of the board of directors for the South Jersey Chapter of JDRF from 2001 to 2010 and currently serves on the board of chancellors. Mattera holds a B.A. in liberal studies and a M.S. in strategic leadership from Neumann University. He and and his wife, Cathy, reside in Mullica Hill, NJ, along with their three children. MARTIN F. MCKERNAN, JR., ESQ.,
serves as a trustee committee member. He is the senior partner in the law firm of McKernan, McKernan & Godino Law firm of Camden, NJ. McKernan is a member of the executive committee of the National Diocesan Attorneys Association representing Region III, which includes PA, NJ, and DE, in addition to serving as a member of the public policy committee of the NJ Catholic Conference. He was named a Knight of St. Gregory by Pope John Paul II in 2003. Admitted to the bar of the State of NJ and to the U.S. District Court of NJ in 1971, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1979, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1997, McKernan previously served as Camden City Attorney and as one of the original trustees of the Camden Center for Law and Social Justice in Camden, NJ. He currently serves as a trustee of Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ, and is also a trustee of the newly established Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. He is attorney of record for the Camden County Board of Social Services, and the Diocese of Camden. Born in Philadelphia, McKernan earned his B.A. from Saint Joseph’s University and his J.D. from Georgetown University. He resides in Cherry Hill, NJ.
REV. MSGR. JOSEPH C. MCLOONE
serves on the strategic planning committee. He is the Pastor at St. Joseph's in Downingtown, PA. Ordained in May 1988, he also held several other pastoral assignments in the Philadelphia area, including Parochial Vicar/Assistant Pastor at St. Anne Church, St. Martin of Tours Church and the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in Mt. Airy and Saint Katharine Drexel Parish in Chester, PA. McLoone is a founding and current board member of Drexel Neumann Academy (DNA), established to keep Catholic education available and affordable in the city of Chester. In January 2010, he was awarded Papal Honors and named a chaplain to Pope Benedict XVI with the title of Reverend Monsignor. He has helped organize many Archdiocesan celebrations and has been active in the Irish community as a member of the Donegal Society and the Delaware Valley Irish Hall of Fame. Raised in Philadelphia, he earned his B.A. in philosophy and his M.Div. and M.A. in theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. ROSALIE M. MIRENDA, Ph.D.,
became president of Neumann University in July of 1996. From the moment she took the helm of the institution, she has forged a reputation as a tireless advocate and savvy visionary. Since she became president, the total enrollment tripled (from less than 900 to 3000), annual and capital giving has increased by more than 30 percent, the campus has expanded from 14 to 68 acres, new academic programs were added (including three doctorates), athletic teams have grown from 9 to 21, and fully wired residence halls have been built to accommodate 850 students. In 2009, the University opened the Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development, a 72,000 square foot facility named in honor of Dr. Mirenda and her husband Tony. Designed to be more than an athletic center, the building uses exhibits and storytelling to provide a new perspective on sports, one that goes beyond the obvious element of competition to address the myriad ways in which students learn life lessons, develop character and deepen spirituality through sports. Dr. Mirenda is committed to the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University, which is based on the belief that knowledge, while valuable in itself, is best used in the service of others. She has enhanced this distinctive identity while leading Neumann into its future. Dr. Mirenda takes great delight in sharing her Catholic faith, beliefs and wisdom with others, both as a writer and as a speaker. She participated and spoke at the Rally for Freedom: Relevance to Higher Education - Stand up for Religious Freedom in
2012. In addition, she has presented at a number of varied higher education annual meetings and conferences on the Role of Mission and Student Experience, Optimizing the Role of Collaboration in Meeting Institutional Challenges, and Ensuring Student Success: Getting the Right Fit. She serves on the board of the World Meeting of Families 2015, Inc., and served as chair of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary’s Task Force on College which completed its work in June 2013. She was appointed by the late Bishop Joseph McFadden to the ExCorde Ecclesiae Working Group for the Committee on Catholic Education, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and is a member of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities. Dr. Mirenda has been recognized by a number of organizations for her distinguished character and numerous accomplishments. She received the Gary Papa Award (2013) from the Delaware County Community Foundation, the Sons of Italy Distinguished Achievement Award (2013), the Sourin Award (2012) from the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Society, the Catholic Graduate Hall of Fame Award (2011) from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Woman on the Move Award (2011) from Main Line Times, The Key and Sword Award, Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul (2011), the Catholic Leadership Institute Award (2010), the Outstanding Alumnus Award (2006) from Widener University, and was awarded the Pontifical Honor of the Cross, Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (2003). Dr. Mirenda earned her Ph.D. from Widener University, her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, and her B.S. in Nursing from Villanova University. She is married to Anthony D. Mirenda. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. MARIAN D. MOSKOWITZ ’91,

Currently a partner in several Malvern building and land development companies, she assists with daily operations and controls accounting and employee and subcontractor hiring. Moskowitz previously held positions as treasurer and board member of Omni Transport, Inc. of Morrisville, PA, and as president, CEO and board member of Aloette of Penn Jersey, Inc. in Quakertown, PA. Dedicated to community service, she has been active for many years with several Delaware Valley organizations. She currently serves as a board member of the Israeli Guide Dog School in Israel, the Colonial Theatre, West Chester University, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and Chester County, and the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation. She has also lent her time and commitment to the the Jewish Outreach Partnership in Cheltenham, PA, and the Chester County Economic Development Council. She and her husband, David H. Moskowitz, Esq., live in Malvern, PA. JEFF MULLEN serves on the finance
committee. He is president and COO of Apple Leisure Group's Distribution company Apple Vacations, the largest travel tour operator in North America. Mullen oversees administration, finance, product development, revenue management and technology. Mullen has worked toward restructuring the organization through acquisition and consolidation with operations in six countries. Mullen also serves on the Board of Trustees for Waldron Mercy Academy and co-founder of Little Smiles,ÂŽ, a 501C3 foundation which provides gifts, wishes and smiles to children in local hospitals, hospices and shelters through its network of healthcare professionals. He received his B.S. in business administration and MBA from Villanova University. He currently resides in Villanova, PA, with his wife Suzanne and their five children.
THOMAS P. PHIAMBOLIS, M.D.
serves on the development committee. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Lipidology. He has been a member of the Lankenau Hospital Department of Medicine and the Kelly Cardiovascular Group since 1989, and more recently, The Lankenau Heart Group. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College where he serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine. Dr. Phiambolis is Director of Cardiac CT Angiography for Main Line Health System. He recently was named the Director of Cardiovascular Prevention and Wellness at Lankenau Medical Center. Presently, he is a member of the Lankenau Heart Institute Executive Committee. His interests include clinical and preventive cardiology and cardiac CT angiography. Dr. Phiambolis served in the U.S. Air Force as active duty captain, flight surgeon, and chief of aeromedical services, Pope Air Force Base, NC. The U.S. Air Force awarded him the Military Airlift Surgeon of the Year Award and the Air Medal. He also received the Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association and the Miljewvic Chemistry Award from Georgetown University. Dr. Phiambolis has been serving on the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Wellness Committee since his appointment by Cardinal Rigali in 2006. He and his wife, Margaret (Sibby), are parishioners of St. Helena and live in Blue Bell, PA. FRANCIS G.X. PILEGGI, ESQ., is a member of the audit committee. A partner in the law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Merllott LLC, he focuses his efforts in corporate and commercial litigation. Formerly a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP, Pileggi was recognized as one of Delaware’s top lawyers by Delaware Today magazine, and served as legislative counsel for the Delaware House of Representatives (1994-1998) and assistant treasurer of the Delaware State Bar Association. He earned his J.D. from Widener University School of Law and a B.A. from St. Joseph’s University. He resides with his wife Jean in Malvern, PA. SISTER MARIE ANGEL A PRESENZA , OSF '71, serves
as secretary to the board of trustees and is also chairperson of the trustee committee. She is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, and presently ministers as program coordinator at the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Aston, PA. She received a B.A. in English from Our Lady of Angels College, an M.A. in educational administration from Villanova University, and a principal/supervisor certificate in educational administration from the state of NJ. She has extensive professional experience as an elementary educator and administrator, and she has been involved in various programs and committees at the parishes in which she ministered as well as on the diocesan level. Sister Marie Angela has served as a member of the board of trustees and mission/ministry committee of St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, NJ. She resides in Aston, PA. CHARLES H. RAMSEY leads the fourth largest police department in the nation with 6,400 sworn and 800 civilian members. He was appointed Philadelphia Police Commissioner in 2008 and brings more than forty-five years of law enforcement service, experience and expertise to the post. Commissioner Ramsey was the Chicago Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Washington, D.C. Police Chief. He has long been at the
forefront of developing innovative policing strategies, evidence-based initiatives, organizational accountability and neighborhood-based programs, while leading organizational change in police departments. Nationally and internationally recognized among law enforcement peers for his law enforcement expertise, he currently serves as president of both the Police Executive Research Forum and the Major Cities Chiefs Association. He is the only law enforcement professional to hold both of these prominent positions simultaneously. During Ramsey’s seven years as Commissioner, the Philadelphia Police Department has seen a 50 percent drop in homicides in 2013 compared to the city’s peak of 500 in 1990, and experienced fewer violent crimes than any time since 1985. During Commissioner Ramsey’s tenure as chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, from 1998 to 2006, crime rates declined in the nation’s capitol by about 40 percent, and regained its reputation as a national leader in urban policing. In 2007, Ramsey was a security consultant to the Washington, D.C. Convention Center and the U.S. Senate Sergeant of Arms. During that year, he also served on the Independent Commission on Security Forces of Iraq. A native of Chicago, IL, Ramsey served in the Chicago Police Department for nearly three decades in a variety of assignments. Commissioner Ramsey is currently a member of the U.S. Homeland Security Advisory Council, which provides advice and recommendations to the U.S. Department Homeland Security Secretary. He has received numerous awards, including the John M. Penrith Leadership Award from the FBI and Major Cities Chiefs National Executive Institute, the Leadership in Policing Award from the Police Executive Research Forum, and the Innovations in American Government Award from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL, and was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree by Neumann University. SISTER CHRISTA THOMPSON, OSF, Ph.D.,'69, serves as chairperson of
the academic affairs committee. She is the director of the Franciscan Spiritual Center, where she has worked since 1998 providing overall leadership and management of the Center, Clare House and the Hermitages with a special focus on marketing, planning and finance. In continued on next page
her ministry, she also presents programs on spirituality and values integration. Sister Christa has thirty years of educational experience including nine years at Neumann as well as 10 years in health care administration. As a trustee of St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, she serves as secretary of the board, chairperson of the mission, ministry and advocacy committee and member of the stewardship committee. She is also a board member of Drexel Neumann Academy. Sister Christa Marie received a B.A. from Our Lady of Angels College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. MICHAEL J. TIERNEY, ESQ., serves on the trustee committee. Tierney is a partner in the corporate and real estate departments at Dilworth Paxson LLP, a Philadelphia-based law firm. He concentrates his practice in a variety of corporate and real estate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity financing, fund formation, corporate governance issues, zoning, land use and tax assessment appeals. He represents companies and individuals in forming new businesses, structuring corporate governance arrangements, performing due diligence review and analysis in connection with proposed acquisitions and investments, and drafting and negotiating business agreements. Among other engagements, he was lead counsel representing the group of local investors who purchased the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and philly.com from the McClatchy Company.
Additionally, Tierney represents individuals and entities in obtaining necessary zoning, use, building and other development-related permits, variances and approvals from the relevant City or suburban agencies needed to build or modify a building or otherwise operate a business. He also represents property owners appealing their tax assessments before City and suburban assessment boards. Among other successful appeals, Tierney recently secured a significant tax savings for a $100 million regional shopping mall. After law school, Tierney clerked for Magistrate Judge Peter B. Scuderi of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of PA. He received his law degree from Widener University, where he was an editor of the law review, and his B.A. in chemistry from Denison University. DANIELLE FRIEL '08, is assistant to the president at Neumann University and staff secretary for the Neumann University board of trustees. She has been a University employee since 2006. She is a member of the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education (NAPAHE), and completed the Delaware County Leadership Certificate Program. Friel received a B.A. in journalism from Penn State University and an M.S. in sport management from Neumann University.
