Former Nevada resident, J.C. Wiseman, will be celebrating his 90th birthday on Tuesday, December 5th. J.C. and his late wife Barbara lived in Nevada for over 55 years. J.C. was a prominent ﬁgure in the community. He owned and operated a successful lumber and hardware business, Community Lumber Co., and later managed T.M. Deal Lumber. Over the years, he also developed and owned Sirloin Stockade and the town’s miniature golf course and driving range. Before he retired, J.C. sold cabinets at Meeks Lumber. J.C. and his wife Barbara also developed the Deer Run subdivision. J.C. was also active in numerous civic organizations including, serving as the Nevada City Hospital President for three terms, President of the Rotary Club, President of the Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Nevada Christmas Committee. He was also known as Santa Claus to a lot of the town’s children for all the lights he used to decorate his home. He and Jack Bastow were also responsible for helping build and provide materials for the town’s Santa House on the square. J.C. currently resides in Leawood, KS.
