Alicia Smalley Community Advocate of the Year Christy McGill, director of Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey, was named the 2013 “Alicia Smalley Community Advocate of the Year” by the National Association of Social Workers -Nevada Chapter during their annual conference on Sept 29. McGill was recognized for advocating for a number of strategies to increase access to health care, mental health services,
and good nutrition in the Lyon and Storey regions. In addition to being the director of Healthy Communities, McGill serves on the boards of Community Chest Inc in Storey County, and on the boards of statewide groups NevadaGrown and Human Services Network. She is also co-chair of the Stronger Economies Together Agribusines Workgroup for a 10 county region, including Storey, Lyon, Washoe, Carson,
Douglas, etc.
