Newsletter Friday, 14th June 2013 Dear Parent/Carer Year 11 had their final assembly on Wednesday. It is appropriate to thank them for the sheer hard work and enthusiasm for all school matters that so many of them have shown over a long period. To have witnessed the performance of our final Year 11 assembly was truly inspirational. It represented all that is good about Neville Lovett Community School: resilience, respect and responsibility. Other thanks should go to parents and carers, as well as to senior, departmental, pastoral and support staff who have worked tirelessly for the year group. All that remain is to wish Year 11 well with their choices about the future. We look forward to seeing them on GCSE result day on 22nd August at 9am, and to celebrating their successes more formally, at the certificate evening in the autumn term 2013. Are you interested in helping us set up a Parent Teacher Association? We are keen to find out if we have sufficient people who could get together. It would be good to see if we could start again. Fundraising would be wonderful, as well as the added chance for community building between parents and school. If you are interested (don’t worry, you won’t be invited to take on a huge role) could you email g.payne@nevillelovett.hants.sch.uk so that I can get an idea? Any thoughts are very welcome! As we are preparing our move to become an Academy in September 2013, we have been busy preparing our new website. It will go live on 1st September 2013.

Newsletter Friday, 14th June 2013 Governor News Keith Blackmore, Vice Chair and I attended the Yr. 11 Leavers Assembly on Wednesday of this week. It was a privilege to be part of such an emotional event and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience that included an excellent item from the Senior Leadership Team! The Governors are also very pleased to welcome Mrs Karen Frost, who has been appointed as clerk to the Governing Body, she will be joining us from the 1st of July. Elizabeth Webb, Chair of Governors Athletics Success On Saturday 8th June three of our year 9 students represented Fareham and Gosport at the County Athletics Championships at the Mountbatten centre in Portsmouth. Fareham and Gosport finished 4th overall which was a fantastic achievement considering we are the smallest district at the event. Chandler Harris won the junior boys javelin with a PB of 39.52. This is a fantastic achievement and he will now compete on Saturday 15th June in Basingstoke. Toby Roe finished 4th in the junior boys 800m with a time of 2.13 which again was a fantastic achievement Courtney Lewis competed in the junior girls discus and recorded a throw of over 18m. Year 7 Rounder's We attended the most recent year 7 rounder's tournament and I am very proud that we were the only team will a full cohort of players. All the other schools could only field small teams and we won all our matches convincingly. They played exceptionally well. Player of the match goes to Charlie Niker for her amazing bowling skills.
