ARTISTS’ MATERIALS

Watercolours produced by JSC APP Nevskaya Palitra are very famous and well known for their quality all over the world. Watercolours are fine suspensions of high-quality pigments, their combinations with fillers in the binder comprising aqueous solution of vegetable adhesives (gum arabic, dextrin) with plasticizer, surfactants and antiseptics addition. Nowadays watercolour palette for painting consists of 57 colors. Fine ground pigment with binder provide increased covering ability, high transparency in saturation tone and clarity. These qualities allow applying a much thinner painting layer on the surface. We represent the following lines of watercolours: White Nights, Ladoga, Sonnet. We keep old traditions but don’t forget about modern technology.

Extra-fine artists' water colours “White Nights” are professional water colours of the highest quality that combine old masters' traditions and modern production techniques. The paints are produced of the finely ground pigments and binders adding Gum Arabic which is recognized as the best natural adhesive for professional water colours. The colours have high intensity colour hues, which do not tone down even when much water is added. This is provided by the high concentration and fine grit of a pigment. The paints have perfect mixing, smearing and spreading qualities. The palette consists mostly of mono pigment and lightfastcolours.Available in sets of 12, 16, 24, 36, 48 colours in 2,5 ml pans, 12 colours in 10 ml tubes and in assortment of 57 colours in 2,5 ml pans.

ARTISTS’ MATERIALS

Oils, varnishes, diluents and other special additions represent the auxiliary materials for artists work. They widen the opportunities for artists and help to use artistic paints more effectively. Oils are film-forming substance in structure of oil paints, and they are part of some kinds of diluents. Varnishes represent solutions of natural or synthetic resins in structure of diluents, which are more often used in painting. Oil diluents represent the group of materials, using of which requires special knowledge. Аlso they can be used for auxiliary needs, such as washing brushes, palettes and etc.

Canvases

Palettes

Canvas is a primed linen or cotton fabric used for painting in oil, tempera and acrylic paints. In “Sonnet” series we offer you highquality primed canvases on stretcher, produced in accordance with traditional techniques, and primed canvases on cardboard. The last figures of the code (marked by three points) correspond to the dimensions of the item in the table.

Palettes are meant for colour mixing. In “Sonnet” series there are wooden, plastic, paper and porcelain palettes of different shapes (oval, rectangular and round). Wooden palettes are mainly used for oil colours. Plastic palette is considered to be allpurpose. Porcelain palette is better used for acrylic and watercolours. One-time paper palette in the form of a sketchbook (A4 size, 40 sheets, with special impregnation) is applied for acrylic, oil and tempera colours. The paper palette is indispensable in the open air painting as you do not need to clear it after.

Palette knives

Sculpture knives

Palette knives are used to create a work of art, to put the paint in a smooth layer or in relief strokes, and also to clear the palette and to partially move the wet paint off the picture. The “Sonnet” palette knives are produced of durable material in accordance with new techniques of weld. Handle is wooden under varnish.

Sculpture knife is the main working instrument for modeling. There are sculpture knives with thin, flat or notched blade. It is light and safe. Its blade is enough strong to cut a medium-hard plasticine block. The opposite blade serves to control quality of forms and proportions. The “Sonnet” sculpture knives are available in sets of 5, 6 and 9 pieces, and in assortment.

ARTISTS’ MATERIALS Modeling material

ARTISTS’ MATERIALS Modeling material sets

The “Sonnet” modeling material is used for sculpture and modeling. This material has the unique characteristics: perfect plasticity together with ability to become firm in the temperature of 130 oC in an oven. It easily softens, does not stick to the hands and does not soil them. Once hardened the items of modeling material may be painted in acrylic colours. Modeling material can be easily taken off the clothes and carpet, the rest is washed off with water and soap. The last three figures of the code (marked by three points) correspond to a colour code in the colour chart.
