Yearbook Theme Inspiration photos for the Yearbook Every spring, Fisher Ink produces a "Yearbook Edition," of the magazine. This magazine is fully funded by the Fisher College because we add an entire section in the back that profiles all of the Fisher student organizations. Every year, the Yearbook has a different theme. This year, we are going for a subway theme.

How this affects you: Mainly, this Yearbook theme influences our color palette for the issue. Aside from that, your designs should not be related to the subway theme. Subway imagery will be present only on the covers and the student organization section.

Color Palette

Red 4 100 96.63 4.53

Green 75 5 81 9

Salmon 0 43 25 0

Blue 64 0 0 8

Orange 2 53 100 3.75

Magenta 32.04 100 33.9 0

Yellow 0 0 100 0

Violet 80 100 20 11

White 0 0 0 0

Black 75 68 67 90

Choose from these 8 main colors to use in your spread. The colors are pre-loaded into your article template and come with lighter and darker variations.

If you're adopting a company's existing brand into your layout, use the colors here that are the most similar. Only variations of these hues are allowed. You can also alter these hues by making them semi-transparent. We encourage you to incorporate black and white in your design, as this will be an important element of this issue's theme. Shades of gray are allowed as well.

Archer Book — Body Copy The Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the Lazy Dog 123456789!@#$%^&*

Barlow has a number of variations that you can use. Be sure to provide enough contrast between weights if using multiple. Barlow is a Google Font, meaning that it can be downloaded and used for free.

Typography - Continued Pull Quotes

Pull quote dialogue text should be in the Barlow typeface, with Archer quotation marks. You can also mix Archer into the text in some situations. The quotation marks should be in Archer - the font size of the quotation marks significantly bigger than the body text.

Captions

Captions should be in Archer. They can be designed in four different ways:

1 Inside photo without a box 3 Outside photo with a box

4 Outside photo without a box

SMASHING

EVERY EXPECTATION.

(( LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA ))

People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. -Steve Jobs

Credits should be in Barlow - “story,” “design,” and “photo” should be extrabold, and the name credits should be extralight. story writer’s name design designer’s name photo photographer’s name

Drop Cap & Body Copy The first paragraph should contain a drop cap that covers three lines. It should also be in a different color than the text (often the same color as the title). The rest of the body copy should be Archer 10pt font with 11pt leading (the amount of space between lines).

This tax reform limits the amount of deduction of taxes paid to state and local governments which will lead to double taxation of individual incomes.

All titles should be in Barlow, but you can mix Barlow and Archer to create a more eye-catching title design. Experimenting with different weights, sizes, colors, shapes, etc. is highly encouraged.
