For nearly a century, Country School has enjoyed a tradition of academic excellence in an environment in which each family plays an active role in the school community. When parents give time in the classroom, volunteer for the Parents’ Association and generously support the Annual Fund, their participation helps Country School fulfill its mission. Thanks to the help of friends like you, Country School is a place that “inspires students to be lifelong learners with the courage and confidence to make a positive contribution to the world.”

The Annual Fund is the only ongoing, annual fundraising activity that touches every member of the New Canaan Country School community. Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of a Country School education. The Annual Fund “bridges the gap” between tuition payments and income from endowment—and the actual cost of educating each student. When you give to the Annual Fund, you give to the people, the programs and the place! And, unlike tuition, gifts to the Annual Fund are fully tax-deductible.

What do your Annual Fund dollars support? How to give:

Why isn’t tuition alone sufficient?

How much should I give to the Annual Fund?

If tuition were increased to cover the full cost of educating each student, many current families would not be able to afford a Country School education. The Annual Fund allows us to maintain a socio-economically diverse student body, a world-class faculty, small class sizes and exceptional programs in all facets of school life, from academics to the arts and athletics. The Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition as affordable as possible. Increasing income to the school through tax-deductible gifts to the Annual Fund is one way to accomplish this goal.

Your contribution to the Annual Fund will directly enhance your child’s education. Therefore, while you are a parent here, we ask that you consider putting the Annual Fund at the top of your giving list. As individual financial situations vary, so do Annual Fund gifts. Only you can decide the amount that is appropriate for your family. We are grateful for any and all contributions, and strive for 100% participation from all of our families. Our gifts range from below $100 to $50,000 each year.

Contributions to the Annual Fund impact every part of the school by directly supporting the operating budget to meet the everyday expenses of running the school in the year they are given. The Annual Fund touches our dedicated teachers, our engaging curriculum, and arts and athletics at all grade levels. The Annual Fund also supports teaching tools, educational technology and equipment, professional development programs, sustainability initiatives, facilities maintenance and tuition assistance.

Thank you for your gift to Country School and for supporting our mission to help our students reach their intellectual, creative, moral, and physical potential. You can make your taxdeductible contribution by check, credit card or stock. Return the enclosed envelope or you can donate or pledge online at www.countryschool.net/giving. If you have any questions or for instructions on making gifts of stock, please contact Director of Annual Giving Lauren Fielding at (203) 801-5634 or lfielding@countryschool.net.
