JUICE FESTIVAL PROGRAMME

Watch Out, Monsters About! Two friendly monsters got lost on their way to the Monster Parade and became trapped in two windows – one in Newcastle and one in Gateshead. Help us to find them and tell us what you think they should be called to set them free!

Tell us their names by: • Emailing juice@ngi.org.uk • Getting in touch on Facebook or Twitter: www.facebook.com/juicefestival.NG @JuiceFestival Tell us where you saw the monster and what you’d like to call him or her. Feel free to share a photo of the monster too! Our new monster pals will then choose their favourite names – if they choose yours you’ll win a Juice Festival Goody Bag!

For more Monster fun and activities visit www.juicefestival.co.uk

Welcome to Juice! Juice – NewcastleGateshead’s award-winning festival for children and young people is back for the fourth year. Packed full of events that celebrate the creativity of young people, the festival is presented in the world-class venues, facilities and open-air locations that make NewcastleGateshead such a brilliant place to live, grow up in and visit. The festival, with its many partners, is proud to commission and present new work by young people, including First Press (p5), Poetry on the Move (p4), First Draft (p7) and A Thousand Tales (p23). These projects are the culmination of many months of work involving hundreds of young people and also act as stepping stones on longer creative journeys. Juice is all about taking part and across the festival there are inspirational events for all ages. From Fly by Night for very young children (p14) and Dance Please! - Company TPOs interactive playground of movement, light and sound (p20), to Botanical Bugs with visual artist Nora Fok (p19) and a programme of the best Films to See Before You’re 13 and Films to See Before You’re 20 (p11), October half term is buzzing with new opportunities. Join bboys and bgirls from around the world in Just Jam (p8), call into the urban Art Jam (p9), or join Kenny Baraka in The Rememberers – a live, Hip-Hop graphic novel experience (p16).

“NewcastleGateshead Initiative is proud to deliver a year round festival and events programme of which Juice is a highlight.”

Following the success of last year’s Finale Parade, this year’s event is even bigger, as Unfolding Theatre create a special Monster Parade (p25) – get dressed up and help sail the monsters away down the Tyne forever…

Sarah Stewart, Chief Executive, NewcastleGateshead Initiative

Whatever you choose to come and see or do, everyone involved in the festival looks forward to giving you a special Juice Festival welcome this October. Enjoy!
