JOURNEY THROUGH A MAGICAL TRAVELLING FAIR AND DISCOVER A WORLD OF EXTRAORDINARY THINGS BOTH LOST AND FOUND This is the story of a travelling fair, but not a fair of fast, over-priced rides and candy apples. A fair that has been travelling in one guise or another for centuries. The earliest sightings of the fair were reported in 18th Century Europe, later in the 19th century across the Atlantic and again in the heady days of London in the 1920s. At the helm is Peter Chevalier, an illusionist and philanthropist who has gathered around him an extended ‘family’ of people who are, in some way, lost. This weird and wonderful ‘family’ have attracted attention, suspicion and awe wherever they turn up, and turn up they do. Overnight they appear, stay for a few days and then disappear. Each fair is different, taking on the quirks and foibles of whatever place they end up, but the story is always the same...
NEW FOR 2018 We’re so excited that By the River Bew Co are bringing their mini Hawker Market to Enchanted Parks packed with a variety of amazing street food for you to choose from. Confirmed vendors to tantalise your tastebuds include: Scream for Pizza, Chuchos, Medhead, Fat Hippo, Nan Bei and North Shore Coffee, with more to be announced. If that’s not enough, BALTIC Shop is returning for another year with a pop up shop brimming with imaginative and unique last minute Christmas gifts or stocking fillers as well as an even bigger and better Craft Fair inside Saltwell Towers showcasing cracking range of local independent businesses.
“WHAT HAVE YOU LOST AND CAN WE HELP YOU FIND IT?“ But surely it’s not possible for this to be the same Peter Chevalier who began this work hundreds of years ago? Join us for a magical, after-dark family adventure through Gateshead’s famous Victorian park. The House of Lost and Found will transform the Park with light, sound, fire, performance and a few surprises. 18 | for more details visit NewcastleGateshead.com/winterfestival
