PRIMARY VOICES Primary Voices is back and better than ever! This January Quicksilver Theatre will present 10 World Premieres - all written by local ten and eleven year olds. For the last four months professional playwrights, actors and theatre makers have been working with Year Six school children all across Camden. As a result over one hundred and fifty brand new plays arrived from these young playwrights. Now, after fierce competition, here are the best ten in their first fully professional productions: a perfect and thrilling start to 2011.

The World Premiere of a bold and breathtaking production that weaves five of Strindberg’s mini-masterpieces, The Ghost Sonata, Storm, After the Fire, The Pelican and The Black Glove, into one exhilarating spectacle in a radical new adaptation by Simon Reade. Sit right at the heart of the action in an apartment block without walls on a Dogvillestyle architect’s plan that occupies the full space of the auditorium. Simon Reade’s plays include Ted Hughes’ Tales from Ovid and Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children for the Royal Shakespeare Company. His many adaptations of the work of Philip Pullman and Michael Morpurgo include the award-winning Private Peaceful. The faction theatre co. return to the New Diorama Theatre as an Associate Ensemble following the recent success of Schiller’s The Robbers. Director Mark Leipacher interviews Simon Reade about his ideas for Strindberg’s Apartment and the process of adapting five one-act plays for the stage. He also discusses his long and varied career including his work for the RSC, The Gate, Bristol OId Vic, Theatre Royal Bath and Filter. Simon Reade was Artistic Director of the Bristol Old Vic and formerly Literary Manager and Dramaturg of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Frank Wurzinger’s new solo show, The Confetti Maker, is a day in the life of a full-time confetti factory worker.

Full of optimism, he pursues his profession: making confetti - cutting, perforating, shredding - all day, every day - but he has ambitions, dreams and fears far beyond the factory life – romance … love … family The Confetti Maker is a highly visual piece. It combines slapstick, puppetry, absurd storytelling, improvisation and, of course, lots of small bits of paper, which are expertly woven into a humorous, yet poignant show.

Two delivery people arrive with a box addressed to the audience - a Make-It-Yourself Story Kit! At first they can’t agree on what story to tell, but once they put their differences aside they tell a fantastical story about family love, loss and the enjoyment of life.

9 year old Marina spends all her time in her room with only her origami creatures for company. The man in the moon sits all alone pulling in the tides with his moon beam fishing rod. When these two meet, everything changes. A magical story full of puppetry and song appropriate for ages 4 and up. Sunday 10th April Teatro-saurus present
