Another Someone Should we aspire to be the best? Or to be happy?
Happiness is what it’s all about- how to be happy. Happiness feels like pancakes for breakfast, a squidgy parcel through the letterbox, new shoes, the distant smell of garlic and onions frying....Happiness feels like being the best, like winning, like getting an A, like people knowing who you are. RashDash look at young people living in a world where success equals happiness, where ‘ordinary’ isn’t good enough.

Footprints Under The Pavement A stroll around the stories and streets of West Euston
Cows in the road, bombs in the sky, revolution at the roundabout, a factory in flames, a canal beneath the allotments, a lottery to come to the UK, dancing all night, an enormous pat of butter – and love on a motorbike. Two trainee tour guides take you on a walk around the local area, uncovering the people and stories who lived there in years gone by, as collected through interviews with local residents. But what starts as a lovely tour is soon interrupted by the ghost of comedian, actor and ex-local resident Kenneth Williams. Has anyone seen his house? There’s a skyscraper in his kitchen, and strangers in the living room! Things ain’t what they used to be round here...

How to screw up a society in 40,032 ways...
I don’t care about what causes things because caring won’t do any good. There is no reason for anything. These things happened. They just did. Nothing caused them. They just happened. Sebastian Rex (“A writer with a distinct and intriguing vision” Jeremy Kingston of The Times) presents us with a raw, provocative and absurd look at power and control. The play is written in gender-neutral language and performed by a cast of eight who will change roles every show. With 40,03 possibilities of casting, you are sure to get a different statement with every performance.

BURN MY HEART Set during the Mau Mau uprising in 1950’s Kenya and the ensuing bloody State of Emergency, two boys’ lives are changed forever as their friendship and loyalty are blown apart by fear and betrayal. Drawing on African music and movement styles, combined with a powerful mix of text and physical story-telling theatre, Burn My Heart is a fast-paced, devastating, and highly relevant story, not to be missed! Burn My Heart is based on the novel by award winning author Beverley Naidoo and adapted by playwright Rina Vergano. “Burn My Heart moves, enlightens and reminds us about a time in British colonial history, a time of African struggle, that helps us to understand how things are now with a little more insight. And, most of all, it is a fine story of friendship, trust, betrayal and loss” The Guardian
Burn my Heart is a Trestle unmasked performance in collaboration with Blindeye.

9:21 to SHRUB HILL Weighed down by the stress of modern life, caught up in the commuter bustle - have we forgotten how to play, unable to savour the here-and-now? A toddler rushes onto a morning train carriage, scene of the daily grind, a rhythmic routine, cramped and crowded amongst strangers. Suddenly, the lives of the passengers begin to change: they begin to remember... Waxwing Theatre present their own brand of uplifting, thought-provoking theatre, with a rich mix of physical theatre and puppetry.

SAFE
But wait. Is this a performance, or a hazard? How far should we go to eliminate risk? The cross departmental Tsar insists on boxticking, risk-assessing and safe-guarding, desperately trying to create a ‘safe’ environment. What must we sacrifice? The voices of those we are trying to protect? A satirical piece of theatre that is at once affecting, exasperating and hilarious. Performed by HotPots, Spare Tyre’s company of artists aged 60+.

Schiller’s
THE ROBBERS
A new version by Daniel Millar and Mark Leipacher “Force the gates, storm the place, and kill anyone in your way. He’s in there.” An overnight sensation at its premiere, the play that propelled Schiller to stardom remains a fierce, fast and furious exploration of modern masculinity. Franz is a cold, cunning manipulator obsessed with materialism, embarking on a quest for money and power. Karl is an attractive, charismatic rebel, hiding out in the forest and inciting an anarchic revolution. They couldn’t be more different. Yet these two brothers are locked in a dangerous competition for their father’s love and a vast inheritance.
