River C r u i s i n g R
iver cruising continues to grow at a very fast pace with more and more vessels being launched. It’s a great way for the cruise virgin to enjoy a taster and an alternative for those who have only tried and enjoyed ocean cruising in the past. A river cruise can be a wonderful way to have a city break, your ship will not only moor right in the heart of the destination but you have the opportunity of visiting a number of cities in one trip without having to pack and unpack as you travel along the river. With a great range of cruises to choose from, style of cruise, price level and a range of rivers there is a cruise to suit everyone - solo travellers, couples and families. There are many rivers to choose from in Europe, the Rhine, Danube, Rhone and Douro, to mention but a few. The European rivers are a great place to start river cruising. The longest cruise is 14 nights travelling the Rhine and Danube visiting many cities and cultures. The Rhone offers the South of France, Lyon to Avignon is perfect for enjoying the scenic wine region. The Douro also offers you the opportunity to extend your holiday by adding pre and post-cruise stays in Oporto and Lisbon. The more recently added south-east Asian destinations on the Mekong and Irrawaddy Rivers, opens up the diverse cultures of Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. On offer are cultural, relaxing and active cruises whilst sailing through very scenic areas.
NEWS
As for the rest of the world - river cruise companies are always looking for new destinations. As well as an old favourite like the Nile, you might like to cruise along the Ganges in India, Lake Kariba or along the Gache and Sanyati Rivers in Africa, taking in the Victoria Falls. The rivers of South America will be next. Watch this space! Things we can help you with when choosing your river cruise: For those who do not want to fly, there are departures by coach, Eurostar or rail. There are many destinations available that offer flights from your local airport. Suites and cabins do vary from cruise line to cruise line and ship to ship - some with high windows, French balconies or verandas. What’s included? Many river cruise companies’ fares are based on “cruise only” which do not include the transport to join your ship. Some are all-inclusive encompassing excursions and drinks. Others might include excursions, but drinks only with meals. It can all be very confusing! That’s where Newell’s TRAVEL and the Ocean and River Cruise Club comes in. We are here to help you select the river cruise that fits your requirements and your budget. Every office of Newell’s TRAVEL has a Cruise Ambassador who specialise in cruising aided by our dedicated Cruising Manager, Nick Pritchard. They receive webinar training, ship visits and much more to keep them fully abreast of this ever changing market. You will be in safe hands. Welcome aboard! Nick Pritchard – Cruising Manager

We are now able to offer regional departures for many of our USA tours, (the above being one of the them) with Aer Lingus (Via Dublin) so USA pre-clearance immigration in Dublin means less queuing upon arrival in USA as the clients enter USA as a “domestic USA Flight passenger” by doing this saves approximately 2 hours, it also works out cheaper by over £100 per person in comparison to flying with Virgin Atlantic direct from Heathrow. Luggage is checked-in at the UK regional airport direct THROUGH to the USA final destination. I believe that we are the only operator that is offering this service/facility. And, from Bristol and/or Birmingham (selected dates)
