Application Process
Begin by completing the NEC Application at nec.edu/apply or the Common Application at commonapp.org. Complete whichever application you prefer.
These documents are reviewed for admission:
• Completed application for admission
• High school transcript (unofficial for admission)
• Written essay (required for Nursing, optional for other programs)
• Letters of recommendation (required for Nursing, optional for other programs)
• College transcript (for transfer students)
• Standardized test scores—optional for all programs
• International students— Go to nec.edu/international for details.
NEC has a rolling admission process. That means that applications and transcripts are reviewed when they are received and that offers of admission and scholarships are generally sent within two weeks.
Once you are admitted, you can confirm your enrollment and accept your scholarship by submitting a $300 deposit at nec.edu/deposit.
Transfer Students
NEC is “transfer friendly!”
You can transfer up to 90 credits toward a bachelor’s degree at NEC. You will receive your transfer credit evaluation within two weeks of being accepted.
Scholarships
On-campus undergraduate students are offered a scholarship at the time of admission, generally with their letter of acceptance. Scholarships range from $18,000 to $30,000. The scholarship amount is based on a student’s high school grade point average (GPA) and the strength of their high school curriculum. Scholarships are good for up to four years if students are enrolled full time and keep a minimum 2.0 GPA at NEC.

Financial Aid
To get additional financial help, you should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to studentaid.gov and use NEC’s federal code: 002579. Make sure to complete the FAFSA for the year you will start college. For example, if you are starting in the fall of 2025, complete the FAFSA for the 2025–2026 school year.
When to complete the FAFSA
The FAFSA for the 2025–2026 school year will be available starting December 1, 2024. Try to submit it by the priority deadline of March 1, 2025, to increase your chances of getting more financial aid.
