BY TIMOTHY BRANCO After 10 years of publishing New England Golf Monthly, we have taken our game to a new level. A bigger picture, a better platform and a new exciting direction for our team. Our new name Northeast.Golf represents an evolution of our model; it is a direct result of the dedication, talent and hard work of our team. Our new larger size quite simply means more content, better features and larger graphics for our readers.

Northeast.Golf Magazine will encompass the entire region, bringing our readers a perspective on the golf lifestyle from the Mid-Atlantic to Eastern Canada. We will be engaging, informative, passionate and continually keep you connected to the game through a complete media mix. Our print magazine will now be available to more golfers and our digital platform is free to subscribe to for weekly updates and promotions. Subscriptions are available as well to receive every issue at your home.

Northeast golfers are passionate about golf with good reason, this is where the game found its roots in America. Of the five founding clubs of the USGA in 1894, 4 were in the Northeast, The Country Club, Newport Golf Club, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and St Andrews Golf Club, the 5th founding member club was The Chicago Golf Club. Just 10 miles as the crow flies from my office sits Newport Country Club, the home to the first U.S. Open in 1895. Too often in the Northeast, we take for granted the amazing fact that we get to walk the hallowed grounds of golf history on the oldest courses in our country. It is amazing that Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Harry Vardon, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and Francis Ouimet walked the same fairways we walk today.

Northeast.Golf is all about golf and the lifestyle that surrounds this wonderful game. In the months and years ahead, we will strive to deliver a diverse view that defines the game’s unique personality and perspective. Our mission quite simply is to make a bit of our own history as a major player in telling the story about the game we all love. Welcome to Northeast.Golf!

Of the 287 local qualifying host sites, participants will have the opportunity to advance from Cranberry Valley GC (June 28), Bay Club at Mattapoisett (July 10), The Ranch Golf Club (July 11), LeBaron Hills CC (July 17) and Granite Links GC (July 25), while three juniors will advance in each age and gender category from every venue.

Participants who advance from local qualifying may compete at either Renaissance (August 12) or Pinehills GC (August 16) depending on local qualifying site.
