Add a Splash of Color White kitchens cabinets have a timeless quality and always brightened up the space; and, while we will never stop seeing painted white cabinets go out of style, there are a couple of new color trends starting to pick up steam for 2018. There is a slight shift away from white and moving toward gray. While lighter shades of gray will never brighten up kitchen in the same way that white cabinets do, many come close. Gray, a neutral color, will also look good alongside warm or cool accent colors. On the bolder side, and almost unheard of only one or two years ago, dark blue or navy painted cabinets are becoming popular for their classy look. While bold colors are never as flexible as white or gray, navy or dark blue colored kitchen cabinets seem to work well with just about any style of kitchen décor. With its stone-like, clean appearance, quartz works for your floors, walls, counters, and vanities. Plus, it’s environmentally friendly. Hand-carved stone sinks will be popular in 2018, but traditional porcelain will continue to be a classic for sinks. The all-white bathroom is out. Colors, and textures are in. Mix it up by choosing a few unique materials instead of just picking one. From bold navy to bright cerulean, every shade of blue you can imagine will be popping up in countertops, tiles, walls, cabinets, and more. While blue is the top color

If you have a mortgage on your home, as most homeowners do, then your home has probably earned some equity. Equity is the difference between the amount you owe on your home and what your home is actually worth.
Home equity is the perfect place to turn to for funding a home remodeling or home improvement project. It makes sense to borrow money against your home’s value since home improvements tend to increase your home’s value, in turn creating more equity. About 50 percent of home equity loans are used to make home improvements, according to the US Census Bureau’s Housing Survey. While home equity loans seem to be made for home improvements, it can be better for some projects than others. There are a few factors to consider when using your home’s equity to pay for a remodeling project, including how long you plan to stay in the home, the estimated return on your investment, tax benefits, and alternative loan options. The difference between a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit With both a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit, #HOMEOWNERLIFESTYLE
money is borrowed against your home with the home itself serving as the collateral for the loan. But the difference between the two is that a home equity loan is a fixed loan with a set payment schedule and a home equity line of credit is a revolving line of credit with a variable interest rate and repayment schedule. Since home improvement and remodeling projects can be both one-time purchases and ongoing projects that are paid for a little bit at a time, both home equity loans and home equity lines of credit are both excellent options for financing home projects. The type of financing you choose will be based on your individual circumstances. A mid-range bathroom remodel costs an average of $12-20,000, according to statistics gathered by Remodeling Magazine. But with an average ROI of 62%, the home-
owner is able to add significant value to the home with a bathroom upgrade. Advantages of refinancing to pay for home renovations Larger home improvement projects are a better fit for refinancing. One of the main advantages of refinancing is to keep your mortgage at one low set rate and one payment secured over a longer period of time. In many cases, there are lower mortgage rates available or new lender programs that offer very attractive rates with fees that can be included in the loan. Refinancing could easily allow a person to “cash out” with enough funds for home repairs without an increase in the mortgage payment. Cash out refinancing allows you to get extra cash by obtaining a new loan for a balance larger than the one on your existing mortgage. In the end, you will have one new [27]
mortgage that covers both your primary home loan and the loan for the additional money. You may find this option attractive if you’re looking for a considerably large sum of money for an addition or major kitchen and bath remodeling project. Refinancing may also make sense if you want to repay your mortgage over a shorter period of time or if you currently have an adjustable rate mortgage and anticipate interest rates rising.
